i was not surprised at all when i asked dustin what he wanted to do this year for his birthday and he answered with "dixie crossroads". we've been there for his birthday before and we've always had a good time. he has a passionate relationship with their rock shrimp. so i invited all of his friends and family. everyone was able to make it minus his BBF (best bud forever). we all had to travel 45 min - 1 hour. it's on the coast and in my opinion is the only thing titusville has going for it.

once we sat down at our table, we were immediately greeted with three heaping baskets of corn fritters. these things never disappoint. they are so very delicious but somewhat dangerous.

matt's corn fritter rules
1. never inhale powder sugar on fritter. it will cause you to cough for a minute and look like a total idiot - like me, when i did it.
2. never exhale powder sugar on fritter. it will cause it to travel everywhere and probably onto the person closest to you.

dustin and matt always go into their own little rock shrimp zone. just eating, dipping, enjoying themselves. it was nice to see matt and rachelle in the flesh! i talk to rachelle daily but it's still nice to be able to spend time with them. i know dustin and matt had catching up and they really seemed to have a good time together. i don't think they ever NOT have a good time together. they even gave dustin two of his favorite things for his bday - diet mountain dew and reeses cups. dustin was very excited by this.

sam came even though she doesn't eat seafood. thankfully, they serve chicken too! yummo food and lots of laughs made for a nice little saturday lunch. it was especially hilarious when melissa opened up her sour cream and it squirted all over her face. i couldn't breathe from laughing so hard. we all sat around and watched the fish, turtles, and birds (one happened to shit right next to us - shameless) for awhile before we all parted ways.

on the ride back while driving through 'middle of nowhere florida' melissa freaks out saying she just saw a bison. a bison! dustin and i gave each another the same look of disbelief. so i turn the car around and we drive by again, very slowly, all of us looking out the window at what turns out to be a regular old cow. just a normal cow. um yeah. sam's following us back and just shakes her head at us. i'm right there with her.

i hope dustin had a nice birthday (even though his actual bithday isn't until tuesday). we've been celebrating all week. i even caved and let him open some presents early. his argument was "i was born 10 days late so really i should have presents starting on 4/7". this makes no sense to me but i thought it was pretty funny and creative. so glad he was born.
