Oscar Fashion

Funny story. So I watched the Red Carpet. I watched ALL of the Oscars except for the last 30 min. You know, the most interesting time to tune in. Yeah, I missed it because I was passed out. I missed seeing Leo win his naked gold man live but thanks to the internet I was able to catch his speech and Kate Winslet's reaction. So sweet! I'm an old lady what can I say! Here are my favorite dresses as per usual.

Jennifer always looks stunning. I love this dress. I feel like she really stepped out of the box with this one but it totally works.

I absolutely love the deep v and the straps on this dress. The color is also just so perfect against Charlize's skin tone.

Doesn't Cate look like the the Queen of Spring? Typically I wouldn't like a dress like this but it's gorgeous, especially so on her. She looks like a glamorous fairy minus the wings. And I mean that as a total compliment.

This was Erin's favorite dress and it's definitely up there for me too. That "belt" is gorgeous. I love how it separates the smooth top half with the frilly bottom. Perfect!

You have really got to have just the right body and look to pull this off and Rooney Mara totally does. I love the little diamond cut out. The whole design is just incredibly different and yet still elegant. Also I love her Rey hairstyle

My girl! Of course I'm totally bias when it comes to Olivia Munn but I really do love her look. The dress is so simple but that little drape over one shoulder spices it up. Also I love the orange! Get it girl!

This was my absolute favorite dress. I love a roman inspired dress but this one is just perfect. The front is obviously sexy but so it the back detail. Olivia looks like an angel.

Ashley Graham is my new favorite model (and first "plus-size" whatever the hell that means model to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated). Not this dress is a little on the, shall we say wacky side, but she pulls it off in an amazingly sexy way. She needs to model for Victoria Secret. Work it!

Saoirse looks beautiful in sparkling emerald green. Her skin and hair are flawless. She and Scarlett Johannsen should go into audio books because I could listen to them speak forever. Ha!

All of these dresses are a big, giant, scoop of NOPE!

Dustin Says

Why don't you just be Taylor (Swift)'s bodyguard since you're so good at defending her?

I know you said cargo pants aren't in but that's all this website carries.

I think he's definitely a girl.

I don't trust any guy who wears sketchers.

What I Wore #42

In honor of Fuller House day I give you my Jesse and the Rippers outfit. Well, it's just a shirt but you get what I'm trying to say. Dustin sent me the link to this shirt and I couldn't get my debit card out fast enough to buy it. I mean, nothing says I-love-Full-House quite like it. Ha! Also, I'm happy to report I can still cronut it up. It's just a mini version!

Full(er) House

I was only two years old when Full House originally aired. I am almost exactly one year older than the Olsen twins (6/13/1986) and they were just little babies when the show started. So I can't remember life without Full House. But by the time I was old enough to really enjoy the show they were airing reruns which I devoured at lightning speed. I have probably seen every episode 10 times each. I can remember when they were ending their run and were still apart of the TGIF line up. Those were some seriously good Friday nights. But then the show ended. Except it never really did because those reruns have never stopped. Everyone knows and loves Full House from generations before mine to kids today. It's pretty neat how this little show spans across all ages.

When Dustin and I realized Nickelodeon was airing a few episodes a night we were quick to watch every episode once again. Every episode just sucks you in no matter how many times you've seen it. My biggest complaint with TV these days is the lack of 90s style sitcoms. You know, the type of show that adults and kids can actually enjoy together (ex: Family Matters, Step By Step, Boy Meets World, Home Improvement, etc.) Those kind of shows do not exist anymore. There are shows that are  strictly for toddlers or preteens or 18+. No shows are aimed at all family members. I'm hoping Fuller House changes that. I read a pretty bad review from Entertainment Weekly yesterday that chewed up the show and spit it out. The thing is, the media can say whatever they want about it and people will still tune in anyway just because the original is so beloved.

The original show means so much to all of us. I know it does to me espcially. If I had to pick one show from my childhood it would be that one. I didn't have parents growing up. Let me rephrase, I didn't have parents who gave a shit. And because of that, and the fact that I'm an only child (well kind of), I turned to TV for everything. Shows were more than entertainment; TV shows were my family, my friends, my parental figures, my hope, & my escape. I spent so many hours as a kid alone in my living room at my mom's or alone in my bedroom at my dad's watching all the TV. Full House was always my go-to show. But this is way before streaming or DVR options. This was back in the olden days where you had to watch a show live or tape it with a VHS. I seriously feel ancient after typing that sentence.

Boy Meets World did it with Girl Meets World. And although I enjoy GMW it's still no where close to the perfection of BMW. I expect Fuller House to be somewhat similar. But I still have super high hopes. I think we all do. How can we not? I think for awhile it will just be enough to be back in that big beautiful San Fran house with the grown up cast. But there's definitely going to need to be a little more than that to keep the show interesting. Dustin & I plan on binge watching the shit out of it tomorrow night. I cannot wait! Good or bad, I AM READY. Let's go Tanner family.

Gainesville: Sweetwater Wetlands Park

My aunt and cousin were telling Dustin and I at Christmas that a new park had opened in Gainesville, and invited us to come check it out when we had time in the new year. We came up this time last year to walk around Paynes Prairie with my family and had such a great time. Sweetwater Wetlands Park connects to Paynes Prairie but is also completely separate so I was interested in checking it out.

I wanted to try and make it up there in January but it didn't work out. But I'm glad we all could get together when we did even if it was a little too hot for an outdoor excursion.

Dustin and I thought it would be awesome if Pat could join us and join us he did! He made it to our place right on time - 8:03 (ha!). And the three of us were off. It was a pretty smooth trip up minus the crazy Red Bull girls who cut across 4 lanes of traffic like assholes. We mostly discussed the possibility of a Stereodiary reunion show. Dustin was/is pretty hesitant but I think Pat and I could warm him up to the idea. The thing is I've never seen Dustin play a real show before. Well atleast not live. All I have are old videos which are very cool in their own right. But I would like to see a live performance one of these days. I won't hold my breath.

We made it to my aunt and uncle's house a little after 10am to a full brunch spread. My aunt said she would have a little snack for us but I wasn't expecting quiche, bacon, pastries, and fresh fruit. She hooked us up! Once we were all fed, Hayley went through my aunt's hat collection. As silly as they might be, I so could've used one of her hats for our walk. We all stood in the driveway lathering up with 100+ SPF because all of us minus Dustin have fair skin. A big thank you to Pat for your extra sunscreen because it was a lifesaver.

We always try to plan these outings when the weather is nice. And when I say nice, I mean in the 60s or below. None of us are real keen on the hot hot heat. But the high that day was supposed to be 75 except it definitely crept into the low 80s. Ugh. And not only that but it was super sunny. It honestly would have helped if it were overcast. But we made the best of it. We had come all this way and we were damn sure going to walk that trail and take in the nature and scenery no matter what.

Sweetwater has a completely different vibe then Paynes Prairie. It's trails are more open and some of the nature is a little further out. We immediately spotted a giant spider and watched as it dipped lower and lower. Yikes. We moved on and watched a flock of birds as they fished for lunch. We even got to see for ourselves one of them catch a fish in his mouth and gulp it down. It was really cool! We spotted several alligators but they were out in the distance. They were no where near as close as they are on the Paynes Prairie trail. We also spotted not one, but two wild horses. We saw a wild horse (maybe the same one?) last year too but this time around we got so incredibly close to both. They just ate and walked by like we weren't even there. I mean how often do you get to just walk by a wild horse?! We cut our trek short because the sun was beating down on all of us and Pat and I kept reapplying sunblock like it was going out of style.

We stopped by Hayley and Greg's house. It is seriously the cutest/coolest and was even featured in this article. I love it's wood floors, how every room flows into the next, the stained glass, and the cute little picket fence. When we got there Hayley and Greg's foster dog Poncho was playing with their friend's dog Cody. It was hilarious to watch them run after each other. Either that or I'm just easily entertained. After the tour inside and out, a viewing of a hog being butchered, and more dog playing, we were off to lunch at Satchels.

I was worried there would be a long wait since we had a party of 8 but after 15 min. we got right in. Mind you, it was a little tight but we didn't complain because we all had pizza on the brain. The meatza lovers (Dustin and Paul) can decide what to put on their pizza in about .3 seconds. The veggie lovers on the other hand had a harder time. But finally after much deliberation we ordered. I just love Satchels. I love the pizza. I love their homemade sodas. I love the weird vibe. But most of all I love being there with my family.

2016 seems to be the year of serious change in our family. Grey and Hayley will most likely both be moving out of state in opposite directions so it was nice to spend time with them before they leave. I used to get really depressed with big changes like that (ahem Erin - HA!) but I've grown to be more accepting. And not just that but excited for the people I love and the direction their life is moving. Would I love all my favorite people to always be within a couple hours of one another? Of course. But that's not reality. Some of us stay. Some of us go. We all just have to enjoy the time we do have with one another and hope our paths continue to cross.
