Happy 1st Birthday Dilyn!

Today is sweet Addilyn's first birthday but we celebrated last Saturday at the Benton house. I arrived about an hour early with the thought that I could help set up but everything was pretty much already done or chugging along. So I just enjoyed time with Addilyn and Rachelle in those few quiet(er) moments before everyone else arrived. Addilyn was zooming around. Walking then falling then running then falling again. The girl is on the move!

I could not get over how cute the Dr. Seuss theme was. I thought Rachelle bought everything on Etsy but turns out she got it off a website meant for teachers. Brilliant! It was so cute and such a classic way to go theme wise.

As the guests started to arrive I fell to the background taking video and photos. I knew people that would be at the party but I didn't KNOW-KNOW anyone except Rachelle, Matt, Addilyn, Shelbi and Dalton. So I reverted to what I know and love: documenting. I also spent some time with the original babies (much like the original gangsters), Brutus and Cinnamon. They were whining because they were gated in so I gave them lots of attention for a good 10 min. The minute my hand left their fur they whined and of course I felt terrible. Finally I just had to run away or I would have stayed there all day out of guilt.

I mingled with Rachelle's mom, Danielle, and Shelbi. I constantly felt like I was in the way of someone so I kept jumping around like an idiot. Ha!

Finally it was time for lunch. Matt and the boys had been working on BBQ in the cooker all morning so we finally stopped smelling the smokiness and started devouring it. Everything was so good. It was the perfect menu. Speaking of menu, we were all impatiently waiting to dig into the fancy donuts. They found out that Addilyn doesn't like cake/frosting when they did her one year photoshoot a month ago so they decided to go with donuts instead. Genius! Not only is it different and fun but it's so easy to just grab and go. None of that wrapper nonsense with cupcakes or that annoying melting that ice cream does. Also I found it very funny that the wrapping paper I used for Dilyn's gift was in fact donuts. And if that wasn't weird enough the Mysterio onesie we picked up for her in Portland predicted she was going to become a Donut Tycoon. Poof. Mind blown. It was just meant to be!

I had a nice day spending time with and celebrating Addilyn. It was also nice seeing all of Rachelle's family and friends and meeting/talking to ones I hadn't before. Not only do they know or are related to everyone in Palm Coast but they are loved by them all too. I told Rachelle that the party was worth all the hard work they had put into preparing for this day. It was just so perfectly them.

It's so crazy to think Addilyn is already a year old. I think back to finding out Rachelle was pregnant and it seems like only a few months ago. That memory is still crystal clear. Also the baby shower seems like last week. Time is one crazy bitch.

Happiest first year sweet girl.
