Dustin's been talking about getting more tattoos for years. But for whatever reason never ended up getting anything else. I think the itch came back strong when I started going to Cortni for my cover up tattoo last year. Then he asked me to schedule his appointment when I had my envelope done a couple months ago. I was so excited he was finally getting it done! He originally wanted an astronaut (via Brand New's Deja Entendu album cover) on his upper arm but decided on Batman art instead. He will probably get the astronaut later on on his forearm.
Last Friday was appointment day. I had decided about a month ago to take the day off just to make my 3 day weekend into a 4 day weekend. I didn't even remember that was when he was getting his tattoo, but since it was, I decided to tag along. Dustin and Cortni talked for a bit to finalize the tattoo design and then she drew it up. She of course had to simplify it a bit to make the it tattoable. I stuck around and watched her place the stencil on him. After about 5 minutes of her tattooing him I went to Starbucks and then to visit my friend Kelly and her shop since it wasn't too far down the road. After killing some time I came back and watched Cortni finish up Dustin's first session. Cortni worked on him as long as she could but her rib started bothering her (due to her pregnancy) and had to call it a day. She got off to a great start though. There are lines for days in this piece but she rocked it! I love the detail of Batman's parents. She said Batman himself will probably get his own session and then a session for the background. Hopefully this sucker will be all done within the next month or so. I'm so pumped to see it completed!
