Fifteen | Sleepover

We celebrated Kierce's 15th with her 7th ear piercing and then went to the mall per her request. The jury is still out on whether or not her ear holes keep closing due to her not-so-great aftercare or if her body is truly refusing earrings altogether.

The four of us ate in the food court like it was 1993. Once we were nice and full we went our separate ways. "Kaity" and I bopped around the very busy mall (legit thought I had time traveled back to the 90s) and ended up with matching Valentine's edition Snoopy pajamas from American Eagle. They are truly the softest pajamas I own. So glad she felt them because I otherwise wouldn't have given them a second glance. But sign me up for comfy loungewear all day every day.

Katie was on a mission to find the perfect pair of jorts. I gave her a hard time about this because personally I think jorts are ugly as sin. However, she almost got me with one pair. I was almost co-signing off on them but they were expensive so she put them back. When I later showed Kierce a video of Katie in said jorts she gave her the judgiest look and said "OMG MOM NO".

Kierce's actual birthday was on a Monday so I was at work; but Katie sent me cute photos of them having a fun time in the photobooth at Stardust. After work, it was so on! I picked up Dustin and we met up with the rest of the gang at Outback for a celebratory meal. Dustin and I also got to meet her boyfriend, Jordan...or as Katie calls him "Jortan". He lost me at hating Taylor Swift but won me back with liking Paramore. All jokes aside he was super friendly and funny and I'm glad we all finally met.

Every summer we have at least one intentional sleepover and sometimes a few unintentional ones aka hurricane parties. I live for these nights of giggling with each other about the most random shit. One thing I've learned as an adult is sleepovers are fun at any age. Don't stop doing that shit when you "grow up" because it can truly be soul healing to spend a cozy evening with loved ones that you don't live with.

We not only introduced the girls to Maury but also Jerry Springer. Can you even imagine these shows not being a pivotal part of your adolescence? Neither can I. Poor Gen Z and every generation to come.

We also played the game Rate these Past & Present Heartthrobs which was totally made up by us. We all gave a list of "heartthrobs" and we'd go one by one and rate them 1-10. I decided to document all the rankings and here are the results.

Top 3
John Stamos    (10.00)       the only perfect 10 and rightfully so.
Jason                (8.75)         one of the gen-z people I don't know or remember.
Paul Rudd        (8.50)         everyone loves Paul.

Bottom 3
Fred Durst      (2.25)          why is he even on the list? ask Katie. ASK KATIE.
JJ                    (3.13)          one of Kierce's picks that I do not remember at all.
Lance Bass     (3.63)          another of Katie's picks. 😂

We learned Katie has a thing for dog tags and white tanks (in which Aubrie replied "I just think you're attracted to ugly men."), Aubrie likes the dead eyes of Evan Peters, and when Kierce saw the photo of Chad Michael Murray she said "It goes crazy!". Also, I'm still dying laughing from our conversation about the emo kid in Horton Hears a Who. Dustin calling Katie "PJ Smolder" in reference to our matching Snoop PJs and her thirst trap facial expressions on Instagram. Kierce doing a mean handsome Squid ward impression. Katie and I double-cheeked up in the aforementioned pajamas. As Fall Out Boy says thanks for the mems.

I woke up early Sunday morning as is customary and total normal for me. The rest of the group did not. I didn't know what to do with myself when every inch of my house was full of sleeping people. Dustin even somehow got up before the Zinzis which is wild because he's undefeated in sleeping-in...or was.

Once everyone was up we headed out to a garage sale where we all found some pretty great stuff! I got two coupley card-games, frames, and two books. Katie got gourmet Rachael Ray cat food and a bunch of other stuff.

We headed to the newish Foxtail which is a replica that pays homage to the original Dr. Phillips juice stand. I'm not a Foxtail coffee girlie but the egg bites and especially the vibes were really good. However, I could've  gone for some fresh OJ straight out of the fountain like back in the day.

Then we were off to a few estate sales which were so interesting and also SO HOT. I mean, most of it was inside the house of course but it didn't help much when the doors are constantly opening and shutting. One house had two full bedrooms of jewelry. It was incredible! I mean the stuff was cool but I'm always so interested in the house itself - the layout, the finishings, the furnishings, the lives spent inside these walls. We will definitely be back on the estate sale circuit sooner rather than later.
