Saturday morning Dustin and I drove up to my Aunt and Uncle's house in Jacksonville. My cousin Leah and her boyfriend, Kyle, met us over there. We were all trying to remember the last time I had been there. We concluded that it was for some family birthday celebration back when I was in high school. So yeah, over 10 years! Dustin had never been there. So crazy! Their house was so much how I remembered it but with updates here and there. It's such a cozy place and even more so when my Uncle started a fire.
I really enjoyed just sitting and talking with everyone. For whatever reason we just don't see each other all that often. It was nice to have that face-to-face interaction as opposed to email and social media. On top of the good conversation, we ate delicious burgers, potato salad, and chocolate cupcakes! Oh, and I tried my very first avocado. I've got to say I wasn't terribly impressed. I thought it would have more flavor than it did. I did enjoy it with a splash of Italian dressing and salt and pepper.
We ended our lunch date with a group selfie...as people do.

Once Dustin and I had made plans to go up to Jacksonville, we immediately asked Matt and Rachelle if we could stop by their place on our way back. Thankfully, they didn't have any other plans that day and were able to get together. But instead of just going to their house, we all decide to meet up in St. Augustine to try out their new favorite sweet spot, Cousteau's Waffle & Milkshake Bar. Dustin and I were still pretty full from our lunch with my family but you just can't say no to ice-cream over waffles. The restaurant is the cutest little thing. And I mean, it's tiny. But it's awesome. I love that it has a Life Aquatic theme. They even give you 10% off if you wear a red beanie - which we of course did. As soon as Dustin heard about it he hopped on Amazon and bought 4. Ha! The girl working there even took our photo for their Instagram account. Now we will forever get 10% off when we go. Dustin and I shared the Whirlybird waffles with a side of a Ping Island shake. It was THE BOMB. I felt like my stomach might explode but it was so WORTH IT.
We walked aimlessly around downtown St. Augustine. The boys would go off and play Ingress (it's a weird GPS capture-the-flag phone game) so Rachelle and I went into a couple art galleries and eventually ended up sitting by the fountain at the Lightner Museum. It was a beautiful day but as soon as the sun went down it got really fucking cold. And of course I forgot my jacket. So we said our goodbyes and headed on home.
I was so exhausted from the day I ended up falling asleep around 9pm on Saturday night. PAR-TY.
Sunday is almost always our don't-make-plans-day but since it was Super Bowl Sunday we broke our own rule a little bit by going over to Dustin's boss' house for a couple hours. We went to the pre-game party because he lives so far away that it would just be too much to drive back late at night. His house is AMAZING though! He's a Pittsburgh fan if you can't tell and has such a cool set-up. I was very impressed. It was fun to meet a few more of Dustin's co-workers. I also made friend's with the dogs because they were way too sweet not to.
We got home around 5 and got ready to watch the Super Bowl. I had trouble staying awake. Yet again. I'm 29 going on 90. The game wasn't all that interesting at first and neither were the commercials. Dustin and I definitely enjoyed the new Jurassic Park trailer though! I thought Katy Perry did well during the half-time show. However, her wardrobe was hideous. Ha! Dustin and I were hoping the Seahawks were going to pull off the win and they totally would have if they hadn't gone with the dumbest play of all time. Way to go guys!
