Circa Thrice

Dustin, Pat, and I saw Thrice and Circa Survive a couple weekends ago.

Traffic was, of course, a fucking nightmare and it took forever to get to Downtown Disney (aka Disney Springs but whatever. I'm old school!). How do people go to Disney all the time unless you live in Celebration? I don't get it. Traffic turns me into my worst self.

We got there and had plenty of time because you know me (and Dustin) all about being on time (sometimes a little too much. Let's not mention the wedding again. ALYSSA! I'm talking to you.) We ate dinner at Splitsville practically alone because there was no one there except us and like one other family. I heard good reviews from Jessica so we tried it out. My taco bowl was the shit and I know Dustin enjoyed his buffalo chicken. Mmm. MM!

We walked over to the fancy DD Starbucks so Pat could get as many shots that are legal so he would wake up. He had been up all night and was fading. While in there we saw the lead singer of Circa Survive just getting his Starbucks on.

We had bought fancy balcony seat tickets at HOB and let me just say it's worth the extra money. We got fancy stickers for our shirts that would allow us to come and go as we please. The three of us shared a bench with one other girl who was seemingly there alone. She was THE BIGGEST Circa Survive fan. We all took turns talking to her and when it was my turn I told her it was my first time seeing them. I could see the shock on her face. Then she confessed it was her first time seeing Thrice and she could see the shock on mine. She was cool as hell.

The show was super long. There were two opening bands then Circa and then Thrice closed. I've never been a Circa Survive fan. I tried way back in the day but it was never my jam. I definitely changed my mind after seeing them live. I definitely appreciate their whole vibe, chemistry, and sound. I even downloaded a few songs off iTunes afterwards. The lead singer had such a great energy that you couldn't help but enjoy yourself. The coolest thing about the night is that his mom was there right across the balcony dancing her ass off the entire time. She never sat down. She looked like a mom but girl didn't act like one. She jammed out to her son's band and it was so cute to watch. Fast forward to the 2:21 mark in the video below to see what I mean.

Thice was amazing as ever. I've lost count of how many time I've seen them with Dustin at this point but each time is a different kind of awesome but also with consistent quality. Those buds are pure talent.
