dustin and i got stuck on a log that was just under the water. it took some maneuvering but we finally freed ourselves. it didn't help that a baby alligator was just hanging out right next to us. dustin blamed me and my photo/video obsession and i'm sure he's right. we came up with a system the rest of the trip where i would yell "log, right side..." and it worked pretty well.

last two photos:
1. 3 turtles and a baby gator.
2. bottom left corner (where dustin is looking) - baby gator in the water!
after our canoe adventure we went swimming. march 2nd and we were swimming in a spring. kind of weird even for florida but it was so damn hot that the freezing water didn't feel so freezing. sam was the first to just jump in. dustin was second. pat and i just looked at each other like we were thinking the same thing "these two are fucking crazy!". we just eased ourselves into it. we swam, snorkeled, splashed, stood on slimey rocks, and tested our floating skills.

we stopped by the good ol' boston market since everyone was tired and hungry.
we all got the mac-n-cheese too which means we're all awesome.

we came back home. showered. rested. napped.
then it was off to the cheesecake factory for the best meal (and i'm not saying that because it was free) but it was pretty damn good. i got the fish and chips which were cooked to perfection.

reeses peanut butter cheesecake! what what!

after dinner we all walked over to guitar center so my musical buds could rock out. i will always be the least talented of the group unless you count shaking a potato or playing hot cross buns on the recorder talent. i am in awe of the three of them when they are behind their instruments. they all just kind of play so effortlessly and to be honest i sometimes feel the slightest pang of jealousy. obviously, i support them all and am so proud and honored to listen to them play but i feel like i missed out on something as a kid. sounds kind of stupid but it is the truth.
on geetar. mr. p. breezy aka peabody bunce aka pbun.

on drums. dmaff15 aka meatball aka D-$.

on piano. shad aka sam-antha.

we then headed over to leu gardens to watch 'the adjustment bureau' outside on the lawn. we got there just in time - parking was almost full. i couldn't believe how packed it was already and we were 30 minutes early. we walked through the giant 'house' and paid for our tickets. the boys went ahead of us to find a good spot while we used the restroom.

we got to walk through a lot of the actual gardens on the way to where the movie was showing. it was a beautiful night. the weather was perfect. the sun was setting and the temperature finally started to slowly drop. there weren't any mosquitoes or bugs to worry about. we just strolled along with all the amazing scents of various flowers filling our noses.
the whole lawn was filled with people. the boys spread out the blankets near the back at the top of the hill. i mentioned to them that i bet they looked kind of funny setting it all up alone. pat replied with "i'm glad he mentioned your name". ha! we brought blankets and snuggies and dustin even brought a pillow. there were some people in fancy chairs, coolers, and even wine and a lantern! talk about a nice little date night. i knew it was a success when pat said as we were leaving "that was the coolest thing i've done in a long time". and he was right. it was pretty damn cool.
as i mentioned before, parking was kind of cramped. we actually didn't even get to park in the parking lot. we were parallel parked on the side of the entrance road. everyone was worried we would be waiting in an hour worth of traffic just trying to get out of the place but we had quite the plan. we took a short cut through the members parking. then i got in my car. backed up with sam's help. drove forward with pat's help. turned around with dustin's help. it all happened in about 10 seconds and they all hopped in the car at the same time. we just zoomed away like we were the coolest kids in school. it was pretty perfect as those things go.
we were headed home when someone mentioned mini golf and that was that. we were going to putt putt around. the place we went to keeps live gators in the entrance way that you can feed. i thought it kind of weird that in one day we saw gators in the wild and in captivity. it IS florida!
we had quite a fun little game. i can't even remember the last time i've played - maybe years? definitely was long overdue. i actually got a hole in one! i couldn't believe it. i felt like a superstar until pat upstaged me with TWO holes in one. AND then sam ended up winning. bollicks!

i haven't done that much in one day in like...forever.
totally worth it.
totally worth it.
