friends forever

sunday was pretty relaxed. dustin made us all breakfast on his handy dandy griddle.
scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon, and potatoes. mmMmmMMM. .

we all hung out for awhile and watched the boys reminisce about the old days. their band days. their high school days. i really love that those two have been friends since middle school and although there have been bumps in the road, they worked it out in the end. they grew up, matured, but didn't - all at the same time. it's awesome to see them together talking about all of our adult shit but then goofing around like they are 16. and why the fuck not, right? life's too short to be so damn serious all the time. i really appreciate when people can grow as they get older but never truly lose who they are. it's refreshing.

and speaking of long friendships, sam and i are going on 22 years of friendship. that makes us about 54 years old. HA! juuust kidding. it's weird to think i still talk to and actually have a close relationship with anyone for that long that isn't related to me. some people just stick. and like every other relationship worth having it takes work, and patience, and fun, and sometimes space.

high five to friendships!

i had to head back to work today. the mini vacation of the last 4ish days has in a way felt like it lasted forever AND feels like it went by at record speed. it's such a weird feeling. i don't know which moments will stay with me most but i do know i will always look back on this time with a smile and chuckle. or maybe even a LLOL or a ROTFL. if there was a theme these past few days it was laughing our asses off. i can't think of a better way to have spent my time.

we said our goodbyes to pat this evening. walked him out to his car. helped him load up his stuff. talked awkwardly outside his car trying to waste a little more time. we finally gave in and hugged, waved, watched him drive away. until next time friend! and next time better not be 2014.
