All That And A Bag Of Chips

I "met" Ashley over a month ago (yes, her name is Ashley too in case you thought I was going crazy!) on Bumble. After talking for a bit we became friends on social media where she ended up inviting me to her 90's Bowling Party. The minute she told me about it I was super pumped. The 90's are my heart and soul and I wanted nothing more than to be apart of a night of honoring the best decade that ever was.

I started brainstorming pretty early on what I was going to wear. But I had a hard time nailing down a specific style. There was the early 90s grunge, the quirky Clarissa, the preppy Clueless, and a lot of trends from the 70's came back in style. Since I couldn't decide I did what anyone does in this day and age and asked Facebook. I got so many great responses from spaghetti strap shirts, dress-over-a-t-shirt, chokers, overalls, platform shoes, butterfly clips, etc. But Nicole's suggestion of the dress over a t-shirt really stuck. So I went to Ross and found a few options before finally choosing the one below. I'll go more into it on a 'What I Wore' post. I tried to get Dustin to wear a sweater vest over a shirt (remember that look?) but he flat out refused. Party pooper. So he ended up wearing his Jurassic Park shirt.

We got to the bowling alley right at 9pm and it brought back so many memories. It's located in my childhood stomping grounds and used to be the bowling alley of choice. I had gone back to the 90's in more ways than one. Ashley is the second Bumble friend I've met in real life and although it doesn't make me nervous to meet someone new like that it does make me anxious. Dustin and I sat at a table while I looked around for people dressed in 90's attire. The funny thing is so many 90's trends have come back that it was hard to tell which group was hers but then I spotted Ashley! Dustin and I went over to introduce ourselves. She of course was the sweetest and introduced me to her group of friends. Then she handed me a goodie bag that was filled with fun dip, stick-on earrings, butterfly clips, pixie six, lip smackers, gushers, and a ring pop. I totally bowled the whole night with the ring pop on my left hand and a bowling ball in my right. Ha! The details she put into this party were not lost on me. Hannah helped me put on a fake glittery tattoo of a palm tree on my arm and we all added butterfly clips to our hair because DUH. Now that we were all kind of 90s we started the games. I can't remember the last time I bowled. It's been years. Not that I've ever been a good bowler but I'm going to blame my HAWRIBLE bowling game on the fact I haven't done it in awhile. I'm not one of these super competitive people when it comes to this kind of thing so I didn't really care how awful I was doing because I was still having a blast. It also helped that Ashley's friends/my new friends were so fun and supportive with their yells, claps and high fives. I was essentially surrounded by strangers but they were all so welcoming that it didn't feel like that at all. Ashley knows some really awesome people. I felt really lucky to be invited to such a cool party. Dustin was one of the best bowlers of the night and I was definitely the worst. Opposites attract right? Ha! After the second game I was starting to get really tired. I mean, it was almost midnight and this Cinderella Grandma was starting to fall asleep. Before we left Ashley told me I could pick a prize so I went with BubbleYum! And let me tell you I have been chewing on that shit all week. Just this morning I was blowing bubbles the size of my head while I drove to work. Dustin and I talked with Aliya and Daniel a bit about cool things like Harry Potter and Ricky and Morty before taking off.

I drove Dustin and I home with the biggest smile on my face. What a fucking awesome night.
