If you've been my friend for awhile you know I'm all about Galentine's Day. I'm cool with regular ol' Valentine's Day too but Galentine's is where it's at. It's all about ladies celebrating ladies. I just see it as an opportunity each year to tell all my lady friends how much they mean to me. I've been doing it for pretty much most of my adult life. It used to be just me sending out hand-made cards in the mail but then it turned into this cute little day at work as well. I'm not sure if I'll have that again at another job and if I don't at least us girls went out with a bang this year. I stayed up late making everyone's cards for everyone and I was so proud of them all when I was finished. They all kind of had the same look but each one was different and meant for that specific person. I remember the feeling I got when I sent them in the mail/placed them on desks. I was so excited to brighten everyone's day because they certainly always brightened mine. We ate Alyssa's famous breakfast sandwiches, donuts, and fruit while exchanging little goodie bags. It was like elementary school but even better because we could eat as much candy as we wanted. We all got to "oooh and aww" over Alyssa's special delivery. (Young love. Sigh.)
It was the perfect day.

I came home to flowers and all of my favorite candies (peanut M&Ms and caramel Ghiradelli). Dustin was finishing up cooking a lovely meal of steaks (He got HUGE steaks from Petty's. Next time we can split one. Lesson learned.) He made a few sides and we proceeded to pig out while watching episodes of The Office. It really was perfect. I love celebrating the day but I love doing it in a low-key way. It's nice to make the day a little extra special without going over the top. We haven't been out on Valentine's Day since our first year of dating and I remember it being a madhouse.
I don't care if it's just another Hallmark holiday. I'm all about celebrating love in all forms.
