RED BAND SOCIETY
I saw the trailer for this before one of the movies we went to see in the theater over the summer. I immediately made a mental note to check it out. Then once the movie was over I put a reminder on my phone to DVR it when it came on. It just premiered this past week and OMG it's so good. Sometimes pilot episodes are kind of meh but this one was brilliant. It's about the pediatric section of a hospital. There are kids of all ages dealing with really shitty illnesses but it's not a downer kind of show. Yeah, I cried but because it was so moving not because it was depressing. It's filled with humor! And it's got some serious heart! I am so excited to see what they do with it. I hope it's a hit because it could definitely be my new favorite show. Fingers crossed it stays on the air.
GOTHAM
This hasn't aired yet but Dustin and I have it set to record. It looks like it could be really good but we also had high hopes for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. We gave up on that one after the 4th or so episode. I think it's just really hard to create a good comic/super hero TV show. I used to watch Smallville but it was pretty cheesy. But we are willing to give this one a shot. It's a cool concept and could be awesome. Plus Ryan from The O.C. is in it as a young Detective Gordon!
NEW GIRL
I love how silly and genuinely hilarious this show is. The cast is just great and never disappoint. They have some of the best lines on TV. I watched the premiere episode last week and it was great per usual. Jessica Biel guest starred which added to the shenanigans. High five to the new season!
THE WALKING DEAD
I can't wait for Rick and Co. to be back on our screen every Sunday night. Last season ended pretty crazy, as per usual, so it will definitely be interesting to see how they get out of this one! It will also be nice to see most of the gang back together again since everyone was separated last season. Let's kick some zombie/Terminus ass!
I couldn't find (maybe because it doesn't exist yet) the trailer for Season 7 so I just linked the bloopers from Season 6. I am super sad this show is coming to an end but like The Office, I feel like it's time. Bittersweet! Chris Pratt is becoming a mega-star (even though he certainly doesn't act like it) and the show as a whole has kind of gone as far as it can go. Plus something just feels off without Ann aka Rashida Jones on it anymore. I'm glad they have a chance to put together a proper ending but it sucks there will only be 13 episodes. (When did shows get so damn short? Remember when most shows were 22 episodes a season?) I will miss Leslie and Ann's friendship, Ron's love for meat and all breakfast foods, April's hatred for everyone and everything, Tom's pop culture references and harebrained business schemes, and Andy's lovable naivety. Oh and Perd. Ya heard? Go out with a bang Pawnee!
PARENTHOOD
This show will go down (for me) as one of the best, well written, amazing cast, most heart-warming shows ever in existence. It's definitely the most underrated show out there which is probably why this season will be it's last. And unlike Parks, I feel like this is a little premature. There's still so much they could do with these characters but I'll just have to deal with the fact this is the end. If you have never watched it PLEASE go do so. I think it's on Netflix now! I will probably end up buying the entire series on DVD because it's THAT kind of show to me. It's one I can watch over and over again like my beloved Felicity, Everwood, etc. Man I'm really going to miss the Bravermans - especially their big family dinners outside and of course the dance parties. I have never and will never have a family like that so watching it definitely makes me feel like I'm part of theirs in some weird way. They are as dysfunctional as the next family but they never give up on one another. The bonds are truly amazing. And yeah, I'm talking this way about fictional characters but I don't care. I get emotionally attached! So what!
