As the three of us were at a Pho Bar dinner Alyssa and I invited ourselves over to Nicole's current residence aka her mother-in-laws home for a crafting/swim day to celebrate Nicole's birthday. Another June gemini what up!
I had made an appointment at a nail salon months prior because I wanted to get them done for my birthday as a treat to myself. Literally have not had them done in YEARS because I typically can't sit still for that long nor do I find the expense worth it. But turning 40 is a spesh occasion so I wanted some fun nails - not your mom's boring ol' French manicure. The nail salon kept changing my appointment. The time was changed twice and then the nail tech changed too. I was too annoyed by all of this so I canceled my appointment and asked Nicole if she would be willing to do my nails. She always has amazing nails herself and I know she has recently done another friend's nails. She happily agreed so I planned to come an hour before hand so she could do her thing. I showed her my inspo photo and not only did she deliver but dare I say she did even better?! SHE NAILED IT.
Alyssa arrived and immediately her and Amberly shared an intimate moment. Nicole opened her super cute prezzies and then we got to crafting. We each made frames that would house photos of our beloved pets. I love how each of ours turned out so uniquely cool yet different. The real highlight of the whole event was yapping with Martha. Nicole (and Nick obvs) lucked out with her because she is something special. She is such a champion of human rights and has such interesting stories. She even kindly gave us a tour of her incredible home. The wood! The built ins! The wallpaper! Just such a cool space.
Nick made us a lovely little lunch and all of us ate together. Alyssa shared her grandfather's beautiful art and photography. She also did some detective work and I confirmed that I indeed did go to high school and was friendly with her neighbor. I have not seen or heard from this person since 2003. Small freaking world!
The last order of business was to jump in that refreshing ass pool. When I asked Nicole how often she and Nick went swimming in it she replied "This is actually my first time." EXCUSE US. MA'AM. They've been together 10 years and you've never gone swimming in your cool as hell MIL's pool? DA FUCK? Alyssa and I could not believe it (and still weeks later cannot and probably will never be over it). And then the friendly teasing moved in my direction when I threw on some goggles and did a little under water swim. They both looked at me like what the hell are you doing. I mean, are we swimming or are we SWIMMING? I'm not a head above water girlie. If I'm in a pool I'm dunking myself. I'm pretending to be a mermaid. I'm in goggles. I'm doing the George Washington hair. I'm floating on my back or on a fun float (this time it was a Crunchwrap supreme).
