FRIDAY: We rented Real Steel and got only about half way through when Dustin's friend imessaged him with a little note to me. It went something like "Dear Mrs. Dmaff, Please let your husband pause your movie tonight for an hour so he can play in the playoffs." It cracked me up so obviously I was fine with pausing the movie so Dustin could play hockey (xbox). However, during this time I totally fell asleep - at 7:30. I don't know what my problem is with staying awake on Friday night but damn 7:30 might be my new record. Dustin scared the shit out of me because he woke me up around 9 with so much excitement. My eyes weren't even open and he was screaming "WE WON! WE'RE CHAMPS! WE GET A BANNER!". So congrats to him and the other hockey buds for winning their first championship game. We ended up watching the rest of Real Steel later on and it turned out to be really good. I wasn't so sure from the previews but I definitely like it. I mean how cute is Hugh Jackman and the kid? Plus the robot DOES THE ROBOT.
SATURDAY: I went to yoga with Erin as per usual. I don't know why but they had it super hot in the building and it made me feel sick the whole time. Ugh. So that wasn't the most fun class.
I came home and showered and we were off to look at some new places. Our lease ends soon and we need/WANT more space. The first one was nice but it wouldn't be much extra space than we have now - for more money. BUT it was in a fantastic gated neighborhood. The second one was awesome! So much room and completely updated. It had such a cozy feel to it too. However the price was a tad high and it was on a busy street.
After the the house hunt we decided to get some lunch. I had one of those Visa gift cards so our meals cost around $13 afterwards. Dustin and I always tip well if we have an exceptional server and we just so happened to have one of the best ever. She was polite, friendly, funny, and ON IT. This girl was a ninja on bringing more drinks and whatever else we needed without us even asking. She would have gotten an excellent tip regardless but Dustin thought it would be extra nice if he tipped her what he had expected to pay (before I reminded him of the card). So he gave her a 50%+ tip. I hope it made her day.
We headed home and watched 50/50. I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I've actually had dreams that he and I were dating. Ridiculous. But awesome. Kind of pathetic. Still awesome. That movie does such a good job with balancing all the seriousness of cancer with humor. And of course Sam called me right as it was ending and thought something was wrong because I was clearly crying like a lunatic. Sam ended up coming over and we had a good time catching up.
I had plans to go to Erin's birthday dinner so I left Sam and Dustin at the house for a few hours. They watched hockey and what not. I got to the Cheesecake Factory right at 7:30PM. The first one of the group to arrive. The place was so packed it took me 10 minutes and 100 circles around the parking lot to find a spot. Then I about passed out when they told me there was a 75 minute wait - as in OVER AN HOUR. WTF. I'm a very impatient person and if it had been Dustin and I, we would have given up in the parking lot. But Erin wanted to wait because then the rest of our party could hang out and have drinks. As a person who never drinks, I didn't even think of this. I just go to restaurants to eat. But it made perfect sense. So we all hung out for over an hour at the bar discussing Modern Family and a million other fun things. She's got a nice group of girl friends and I'm happy that she felt special and important that night - because she is. I wasn't even hungry for dinner (because of that huge lunch earlier in the day) so I opted for one giant slice of Dutch Apple Cheesecake. Oh man. It was like we were the only two in the room. Just me and my lovely cheesecake.
Sam and Dustin were still hanging out and facetiming with Pat when I got home. We all sat around and made fun of various television shows. It was a lot of fun. It was like the last two years hadn't even passed us all by. I love that we are all such good friends. There's something very comforting about it. And I could use some comfort right now - that's for damn sure. We all ended up playing Buzz Word until 1AM. The best part was when Pat mispronounced 'hors d'oeuvres'. We all couldn't stop laughing. It was great. I'm still laughing. I even have it on video...
I can't remember the last time I did so much in one day. I don't actually think I've ever done that much.
SUNDAY: We actually slept in until 10AM. That never happens. It was nice but I swear it made my day seem much shorter. We made breakfast and literally laid around all day. I moved from couch to bed to couch back to bed. Lounging, iphoning, tv-ing, reading, napping.
