I woke up this morning and walked out into the living room after taking a shower. I was still half asleep and my eyes were barely open. Then I saw something sort of moving in front of me and I woke right up! Turns out it was a huge Valentine's balloon. Dustin was sneaky and left a few things out on the coffee table where I was sure to run in to them in the morning. And I did! And it certainly got my heart beating in more ways than one. Ha!
Everything was perfect. My favorite flowers (and in my favorite color!). My favorite expensive chocolate. My favorite breath mints. And my favorite of them all - a homemade card. Dustin usually sneaks into my craft bin and finds a scrap piece of card stock or whatever random blank card he can find and then he writes the sweetest things followed by the funniest pictures. I much rather have those kinds of cards than any store bought card that won first place at Cheese Fest 99. And the huge balloon reminded me of our first Valentine's Day together back in 2006 which made me all nostalgic.
Before leaving for work, I left a little package of goodies right next to Dustin's computer (where I knew he'd see them) to open when he got home. I made him a card, gave him his favorite candy (Reeses!) and some new boxers.

Dustin had dinner on the table the minute I walked through the door after work. We eat dinner early every day like we're 85. Deal with it. Steak, potatoes, corn! Mmm. Then we proceeded to FINALLY watch Wreck It Ralph. It was so good! It's definitely one of the best animated movies I've seen in awhile. I'm happy to hear they are working on a second one. The cutest! It's definitely a movie all of us 90s kids can really appreciate.
Then we drove up to Jeremiah's for a caffe latte gelati. They were having a special deal (one large gelati with two spoons for the price of a small) but we chose to get our own cups. We love each other and all but we aren't big on sharing sweets! Ha!
Every year we opt for the quiet, private, coziness of our home over a cramped restaurant. And for us it's perfect. For us, simple is preferred.
A lot of people think it's a silly holiday but I'd have to disagree. I think it's nice to celebrate love. I love Dustin (and my family and friends) every single day and I do my best to tell/show them as often as I can but sometimes it's easy to get caught up in life. It happens to us all. It's a nice reminder to forget all the things that just don't matter and be with the ones you love.
