Resolutions: January

Meant to post this a few days ago BUUUUUUUT I've been moving. So yeah.

My original 2013 Resolution post.

Hair - I got it TRIMMED. The length is still there but now it looks healthier and is much easier to manage. According to 4Square, the last trim was in September. Truth be told, I'm getting kind of antsy with this whole growing out thing but I plan on reaching my goal regardless.

Side Note: I went to Hair Cuttery and waited for a good 30 min. There was one girl cutting hair and the others were in the back talking and laughing. I couldn't tell if what they were doing was work related but it seemed like they were just taking their sweet ass time. All I wanted was a wash and a trim. Nothing fancy. I didn't even want a blow dry. I'm an impatient person in general but I hate waiting on anything 'beauty' related. I'm just not that girl. I like to get in and get home. So I ended up walking out. Then I went to a different Salon and didn't have to wait at all. They got me right in and did exactly what I had asked.

Read a New Book - I did read but I didn't finish the book. Boo.

Give back - One Saturday, as I was driving to the mall, I noticed a girls Lacrosse Team washing cars for donations. So on a whim, I turned into the parking lot and they washed my car. When I asked them how much I owed, they told me any donation is appreciated. I gave them $10. I'm not sure what the money was for but I am happy I could help them with their goal.

Go to Yoga - Erin and I went on 1/19/13. CHECK.

Write a handwritten letter - CHECK! I sent my brother a two page handwritten letter on college ruled paper. Also, I sent a care package to my friend Colby. I didn't write her a letter but I did make her muffins and a card.

Save - It wasn't possible this month due to moving! Hopefully next month I'll be able to put some money away.

Travel - Nope. Didn't leave Orlando once.

Outside - This one was kind of a fail this month. The only time I spent an extended amount of time outside was when I walked around Lake Eola for Erin's birthday. The weather was gorgeous! I'll try to do better next month.

Less - Dustin and I keep a filing cabinet (except it's not really a cabinet but the plastic filing container that holds hanging folders) for all of our bills/important paperwork that we don't want to get lost. It has been kind of tight and overflowing lately. So while watching Mad Med, I sat on the floor and went through every single folder. I shredded old stuff and sorted through the rest. I labeled new files and made sure they were all alphabetized. I got rid of so much shit! The photo below is just ONE of two bags. Less is more!

Also since we moved I got to go through a lot of our shit. I still have things I would like to sort out into 'throw away' and 'give away' piles but one thing at a time. I asked Dustin to go through his clothes and we were able to fill out one whole trash bag! I also let go of a lot of my clothes and old shoes. Speaking of shoes... I had these pair of gray and purple Vans that are probably 8+ years old. I haven't actually worn them since 2005 but I LOVE them. I felt an attachment for some weird reason. So to make our parting of ways a little easier, I took a photo of them. Because truth is, I don't NEED them. I won't ever WEAR them again. They are just taking up space. So I thought it was a clever way to keep the memory of something but letting the physical object go - TAKE A PHOTO. Definitely a light bulb/aha moment. Try it! It works.
