30 Day Writing Challenge: Nine

Your Feelings On Ageism

I think we've all felt judged for our age at some point AND we've all been the judger too. I remember working full time in my early twenties and although most of my co-workers were respectful some were not. And that goes for customers and vendors alike. I felt like certain people were not taking me seriously because of my age. I probably didn't know anything or couldn't help them the way someone older could. This could have been my own insecurity but I also think there's some truth to it. Society as a whole always has these notions that if you're a certain age than _____ must be true. I think one of the biggest and most recent examples is the whole "millennial bashing era" we are currently in. Why does every other generation deem it ok to hate everything us 23-38 year olds do? I always feel so ganged up on after reading any article with the word "millennial" in the title. In the words of Taylor Swift "You need to calm down." Ageism exists all throughout life unfortunately. You're either too young or too old for seemingly everything. It's all bullshit. There's a place for us all in the workforce and your grandma is not too old to have pink hair.
