Meghan and Harry: I'm Still Obsessed

I know I know the royal wedding happened weeks ago so why am I still hung up on it?

I just am ok. Get off my back.

I've always been fascinated with the royals because growing up in the 90s Princess Di's face was on every magazine in the grocery store and clips of her and all of her humanitarian work filled my TV screen. I've read her book and watched I don't even know how many specials. I fell in love with her alongside the rest of the world.  I am the same age as Prince Harry. I used to have a crush on Prince William but now I'm all about the ginger of the family.  I remember mourning Diana's death while in middle school. I still have a very vivid memory of that horrific time. My mom and I watched the funeral coverage at my grandpa's house. As I got older my love for history in general grew. British history specifically was just always my cup of tea. GET IT. (And I don't even like tea.) The Crown has fueled my love of all things British even more so.

I woke up at 5:30 AM the Saturday of the wedding since they are about 5 hours ahead. The coverage had already began and I just snuggled into our comfy leather chair and took it in. The first guest was Oprah. I love how punctual she was. It was said several times that if anyone is late they will not be allowed in so it seems she took it even more serious than most. My concern was how far the guests had to walk. It looked like miles until they finally made it inside the church but maybe that's an exaggeration on my part. I'd be in flats if that were the case.

I loved that Meghan went very simple and natural with both her dress and makeup. She's already changing the game and I'm so here for it. I also love that her mom rocked her nose ring. I wonder how that conversation went between her and the Royals. Either way she, too, looked amazing. The ceremony itself was a little much for me as I'm not religious. If I'm going to be honest I dipped out for breakfast at this point and made it back in time for Michael Curry's speech about fire which I enjoyed. Even more than that I loved the 'Stand by Me' performance. Their first kiss surrounded by flowers was what dreams are made of. I just could not get enough. I still can't get enough. Dustin thinks I'm insane and of course doesn't understand my or anyone else's interest in the whole ordeal but that's ok. Is it all over the top? Yes. Are most of the traditions completely outdated? Yes. Are some of the rules completely ridiculous? Absolutely. I totally get all of that but I still love it all. I even watched the Lifetime movie about them and a TLC special. Both were great if you're into that kind of thing.

With all of the horrors going on in the world, and in America specifically, I don't think it's such a bad thing to enjoy a couple's wedding even if that couple is royalty and complete strangers. Love is all you need.

Funemployment: Random Wanderings

DUNKIN DATE with KAT(i)E: Katie and I met up at Dunkin in the first couple weeks after I lost my job. I was so excited that she had time because girl is a busy bee and for very good reason. We sat there and talked ALL morning. Like 3+ hours we just went on and on about all of it. In the middle of our girl talk a lovely elderly woman (I believe she said she was in her 80s) came up to us and complimented my cat tattoos. She told me how beautiful they were and then after a closer look also complimented Katie's as well. She then went on to tell us about how her grandson got a tattoo for her and then she showed us an old tattoo of her own. She told us she wanted another one but she's probably too old now. We both told her she wasn't and she should do it if she wanted to. It was so incredibly refreshing to have our tattoos complimented by someone whose generation often judges them. But that's the thing, you can't assume just because someone has tattoos that they are a bad person or have ruined their skin just like you can't assume all elderly folks hate them. Just when I start to harden the world surprises me with little things like this. It was the icing on the cake. What a therapeutic morning spent with my girl. I asked to take her picture because she looked so damn cute. I forgot what I called her...Palatka Princess, Contemporary Country? I'm not sure but I loved the mix of her roots (Palatka) with her evolved modern style (hoops and winged liner). GET. IT.

RIFLE PAPER CO.: If there were ever a store that screamed "ASHLEY!" it is most definitely this one. Amanda told me about it because she tells me about everything cool and so far she has hit it out of the park every damn time.

On my way home from one of my interviews I decided to stop by since it was on my way. It's this little shop filled with lovely cards, enamel pins, notebooks, stationary, art prints, etc. It's not a huge space but it took me several laps just to make sure I had seen everything. I spent a good 10-15 minutes talking to the woman manning the shop. She told me the history of Rifle Paper Co. and how it started in an apartment in Winter Park and grew into this huge business. I of course told her how much I love snail mail, about my envelope tattoo, about my participation in SnalMailMyEmail, and so on. I get very excited anyone wants to discuss anything having to do with hand written letters. Sure, you can buy things at this shop and online but their stuff is all over in places like Barnes and Noble and Anthropologie. Also I just noticed they have a partnership with Keds. How cute are these floral sneaks?! I bought a couple cards when I was there but as soon as my budget isn't so tight I'll be back to buy half of the store. Ha!

ST. PATRICK's DAY: We spent our 13th anniversary in an incredibly chill manner. Thankfully we didn't have any plans before my job loss so we just decided to keep it easy and celebrate with food. Originally we were going to try out The Boathouse at Disney Springs. I made reservations and everything but then I thought about the traffic, the parking, the crowds and we just decided we didn't want to have to go through that mess. So we didn't. Instead we ate an early dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and that was that. Easy and delicious!

Prior to our meal we stopped at Lauren's to do some cat sitting which I take incredibly seriously (you know what I'm saying Antonia and Ed!). It's such a comfort when you can trust the person looking after your pets while you're away. Pat has been that for us several times and it makes leaving that much easier. She was on a cruise for a couple days so we just stopped by the once and made sure they were good on food and water. I also cleaned the litter box because I know how that can get with two cats after just a couple days. At first, we saw Monkey on her bed from a crack in the door. She wasn't scared but she also had no interest in us. We went about the cleaning and what not and then Sophia came out (from where I do not know) and was such a little love. She couldn't decide which she wanted more: pets or food. She'd just go back and forth. A bite of food then she'd come rub against my leg. Then back for more food. It was then Monkey decided to join the party but when I say join she was just physically closer to us. She still had no interest in interacting with us the way Sophia did. Monkey had that look on her face like "Thanks for stopping by but you're not my mom so I'm going to watch these birds and ignore you". Fair enough.

We ended the evening with a viewing of I, Tonya which was just as wonderful and batshit as everyone said it was. I definitely recommend watching it even if you aren't a ice skating fan like I am.

50 Things About Me

I did one of these years ago back when I had a LiveJournal. If I wasn't so lazy I'd go back through my old posts and try and find it so I could compare it to the new list I'm about to create.

  1. I always fast forward through monologues no matter how much I like the celebrity. Ellen, Conan, the Jimmy's, etc. Sorry not sorry.
  2. I take at least one nap every single weekend.
  3. I've never done any kind of drug ever. Not weed. Never even smoked a cigarette. Nada.
  4. I haven't always been a cat lady but I'm a proud one now and forevermore.
  5. I have 8 tattoos and plan to fill in 3/4 of my right arm.
  6. I never hit snooze. Always up and at 'em no matter how tired I am.
  7. I'm an only child AND a sister. It's true. It's just me on my mom's side but I've got a brother on my dad's side.
  8. My favorite season is fall. Crisp 65 degree air, pumpkin flavored everything, layers, boots, overcast sky, and piles of leaves.
  9. My all time favorite TV show is Felicity. Second in line is The Office.
  10. I've never traveled outside of the country - not even to Canada or Mexico or the Caribbean.
  11. I'm such a cheapskate that Dustin usually has to talk me into buying things for myself.
  12. I collect postcards and magnets. My new obsession is enamel pins. (Christmas is right around the corner - HINT HINT) Oh and Funko Pops.
  13. I used to love me some trashy reality shows but these days I only watch Teen Mom. I'm invested OK?!
  14. My weakness is sugar. I love everything sweet! Cake, pie, candy, ice cream, milkshakes. I WANT IT ALL.
  15. I am an atheist, feminist, democrat, liberal, etc.
  16. I've had one major surgery when I was 15 and two oral surgeries.
  17. I've never mowed a lawn with a push lawn mower. And the last time I mowed a yard on a riding lawn mower I was probably in middle school.
  18. I have a memory like an elephant which is only magnified when I take photos and video.
  19. I'm a grudge holder.
  20. I always choose doing my hair over doing my makeup.
  21. Math was always my worst subject. English was my best.
  22. I'm allergic to hair dye.
  23. I always drive because Dustin's driving gives me anxiety.
  24. I both love and hate to fly.
  25. If Dustin and I ever moved out of Florida it would be to Pittsburgh. (or Portland.)
  26. I pride myself on my preparedness. I always carry sanitizer, bandaids, tissues, floss, etc. in my purse. I've been called "A mom without kids".
  27. I don't drink. I will gladly be the designated driver or sober sister of the group.
  28. My favorite sodas are Dr. Pepper and Cherry Coke.
  29. I'm a homebody.
  30. I won't ride in a car without a seatbelt on ever - for safety yes, but also because I feel naked without it.
  31. I have struggled with depression since I was in middle school and anxiety for as long as I can remember.
  32. I'm missing one adult tooth. My mouth was too crowded so my grandpa pulled it (he was a dentist) when I was in braces.
  33. I wish my boobs were smaller.
  34. I hate to sweat, therefore, I will not do any outdoor activities from May - October unless it involves being in some body of water because FL is gross AF.
  35. I've been to therapy multiple times in my teens and twenties and it helped tremendously.
  36. I'm a rule follower who married a rule-breaker.
  37. I never listen to the radio. I always listen to music on my iPhone or a Podcast.
  38. I have a really hard time calling in sick to work even though I'm actually sick. I hate making more work for others.
  39. I like all kinds of music from all different periods but if I had to choose one genre to listen to forever it would be alternative.
  40. I'm Apple all the way. My iMac is my BFF. My iPhone is family.
  41. I loathe guns. LOATHE.
  42. I've never been athletic but I did take karate for a year when I was 12 (only because my BFF did) and was on the track team that same year (again only because my BFF was too).
  43. I have a lot of weird freckles - one on my surgery scar (yeah like what?!), one on the front of my nostril but the strangest one is on the bottom of my foot.
  44. I'm always at least 5 minutes early everywhere I go.
  45. I'm a team player through and through.
  46. I am an extroverted introvert.
  47. I know narwhals are real but a part of me still thinks they are make believe.
  48. I went to college for two years then quite for a multitude of reasons. No college. No regrets. No student loans.
  49. I am child free because I WANT TO BE.
  50. I still feel like I'm 19. Most days.

FUCK POLITENESS

If any of you listen to the podcast 'My Favorite Murder' then you know Karen and Georgia have a running theme where they remind their listeners to "fuck politeness". Now we're not talking opening a door for a stranger or saying please and thank you. This is strictly in terms of feeling uncomfortable. I can't even count how many times, especially as a woman, I've been polite even though I felt uncomfortable. There whole mantra is to fuck that and leave or speak up or get yourself out of the situation no matter what. We as people (AND WOMEN) do not always need to be polite if we feel something is off. Maybe nothing would have happened but if you feel in your gut something isn't right then fuck politeness and get the hell out of there. I've gotten better about this over the years but just them reiterating it each episode has really helped give me that confidence.

Here's an extremely embarrassing story that Dustin still to this day makes fun of me about. But it was one of my "fuck politeness" moments.

Ok so Dustin and I ordered our food at Chipotle. We sat down and started to eat when I noticed something odd. I looked around the perimeter of the restaurant and saw one person sitting at a table by themselves. Then I saw another and another and they were all facing away from each other. Ok, not entirely weird except none of them were eating. They were just sitting and staring. It freaked me out enough where I couldn't eat. Dustin was annoyed and asked me if I wanted to leave. So we left. We scooped up our half eaten lunch, got to-go lids, and left. We ended up finishing our meal in my car down the road in some random parking lot. I forgot who did it but one of us called to ask if any of the Chipotle staff knew what was going on and they replied - "Interviews." Ha! Did I feel like a complete paranoid idiot? Why yes I did but also I didn't care because in my gut in that moment I didn't trust the situation. I think this was right after one of the latest bombings or shootings or who knows because they happen so often but I was on edge. Anyway, I'm not going to apologize for it. I'm glad it was nothing. A lot of times you will "fuck politeness" and it will be nothing but there's always a chance that there is someone that is looking to harm you. And those people can fuck off.

So don't ever apologize for your gut or intuition or bad vibes. You fuck the hell out of being polite and get yourself somewhere you feel at ease.

They also say "Pepper spray first, apologize later." which I also love.

TRUMP's TRANS BAN

In case you've been living under a rock Trump announced, via Twitter no less, that he would not allow transgender people to serve in any capacity in the military. This is absolutely ridiculous. RIDICULOUS.  There are thousands upon thousands of trans men and women that have fought, are currently fighting, or are hoping to join, and if they want to serve America in this selfless way than why not let them? They are not a burden. They are people like you and I and deserve all of the same rights.

As of right now I do not have any personal relationship, as far as I know, with a trans person so I clearly have zero first person experience. To be honest, it's taken me awhile to really understand what it is to be trans and I'm still not 100% there but I'm open to learning every day. The Amazon original show 'Transparent' has been incredible in helping me understand their truth and troubles. Also I watch 'I am Jazz' which is a "reality" show about a transgender teenage girl. And of course listening to every day transgender stories. I support all lifestyles even the ones that are harder for me to understand. I believe in their value as people and they should not be shunned from any community.

Trump is cruel and if you support him you are just as cruel.

DISTRACTED DRIVING

I've been thinking of one distraction specifcally that has really bothered me in past months. So many people I know AND people I don't know (like celebrities, bloggers, etc.) video while the car is in motion and they are behind the wheel. I totally understand doing anything while driving is dangerous (texting especially but also eating, lighting a cigarette,  putting on makeup, searching for something on the floorboard) but this in particular really bothers me. I'm not here to blame people because I've done my fair share of dangerous things while behind the wheel too. For example, I'm big on finding a particular song on my iPhone or looking for a Podcast while my car happens to be in motion. These are things I'm really trying to work on. I don't text and drive (although I have in the past) but I do text at red lights which is probably only slightly better. I just feel like if you need to do something on your phone it makes way more sense to do it when the vehicle is not moving. It seriously scares the shit out of me when I see friends and family snapping videos while driving. Don't get me wrong, there are several times I'd like to whip out my phone and video something but I always remind myself that the car is moving and it just IS NOT WORTH IT. Now at a red light, I'm all for it. When Dustin is in the car he is my texter and music/podcast finder. I really suggest if someone is with you to just give them your phone and let them do whatever it is you need. Now if you're alone it's up to you. It really is up to all of us but please ask yourself is the video, the snapchat, the instastory, the Facebook post, the text, whatever it is - if it's actually worth getting into an accident. If it's worth potentially hurting yourself or someone else.

We all have a lot of work to do and it's one of those things that are never going to be perfect but I know we can all do better by being more aware and really thinking before we act.

Woman livestreams crash that kills sister.

ATHEISM

Not only do I not worship government but I also don't worship any God.

I'm an atheist but I'm also an American. It's that simple. If you think Trump worships anything or anyone but himself you are severely mistaken. His words are such a danger to society and especially the American people. Also, where is the separation of church and state? I personally don't think ANY president should discuss their personal religious views. Because you know what? IT'S FUCKING PERSONAL. Religion should not have any place in government or in a place of work. Period. Unless of course you actually work at a church. This man keeps tearing down trying to tear down minorities left and right and I absolutely will not stand for it.

OBAMACARE REPEAL DEAD

I'm so incredibly relieved that the Republican's plan didn't pan out. I'm so impressed with Senators Collins and Murkowski. Senator McCain of course was the deciding vote and I'm so thankful that he voted no. I called each Senator on my lunch break on Friday and either left a voicemail or spoke to one of their interns thanking them for voting against their party.

Since this latest bill was announced  called every day to Senator Rubio who is just a complete dipshit but I still wanted him to know what his constituents actually wanted. There was even once where I got into a bit of an argument with one of his interns. Stop trying to change my mind and pass my message to the man who is supposed to be serving Florida. How bow dah? We've won, for now but I know there's still quite the war ahead.

I will write about this in more detail later on but I have decided on getting the Nexplanon implant in my arm which is a 3 year birth control method. I do not trust this administration for a second and I want to make sure me and my family are covered in at least that way. It will almost span the length of the Trump and/or Pence presidency which is the best I can do since my cervix doesn't like the IUD. I will be scheduling the procedure in the next couple weeks.

Haterade

Here's a blog post wherein I discuss some things that I just straight up hate. Loathe. Ugh.

SUMMER

I'm almost positive I've written about my disdain for summer before but I hate it so much I'm going to write about it again. I have complained about the summer and the heat it brings every single day, multiple times a day since last year (because Florida legit did not get a winter at all this year). While so many are flocking to the beaches and wearing cutoff shorts that they probably shouldn't be wearing, I've been locked away inside blasting my air conditioning. Nothing makes me feel lazier or less motivated than summer or just overall heat. I have no desire to do anything active when I might have a fucking heat stroke only 5 minutes later.

Let me count the ways I hate the heat:

  • Boob sweat. I hate feeling wet and slimy underneath my damn breast which then soaks through my bra and shirt. Gross.
  • Sweating period. I mean, I even hate to sweat at the gym but that at least makes sense. But sweating while it takes 30 seconds to take the garbage to the side of the road or just plain walking from my house to the car OR my favorite - sweating immediately after getting out of the shower. What was even the point?! It's gross, sticky, smelly, slimey, and wet. No one wants to live in a forever wetness that their own body created.
  • Working out is even worse. I work out because I'm overweight and have anxiety. I don't do it because I love it. Fuck that. I rather lay in bed watching Felicity than go run a few miles on a treadmill any day. When I go to the gym during the winter I walk out and am immediately greeted by the cool air. It is refreshing as fuck. It's like the equivalent of gulping an ice water for the inside of my body but for the outside. But it's extra hard to work out right now because I sweat while walking to my car, sweat more during my workout, and then I continue the sweating on my walk to my car and about 5 minutes into my ride home because let's be real folks, it takes seemingly forever for your car to cool down. So if I already didn't feel like I was going to die at the gym, I sure as hell feel like I am afterwards. Thanks summer!
  • I already have a hard time seeing as it is. I don't need the help of summer. But every time I step out of my house or my nice icey car I immediately go blind by the fog that automatically forms on my lenses. It is annoying as fuck. My glasses are my eyeballs. They aren't like sunglasses that I can just take off and toss aside. I have to go through the motion of wiping them down, then making smudges, and then cleaning those off, before finally - VOILA - I can see again.
  • Heat makes me tired and lazy and not want to move at all for fear I will sweat even more and especially stay in doors. But seriously, I feel like a sloth during the hot months (April-December). The minute the weather gets in the 70s (or even colder!) I'm all about making plans outside here and outside there. I love the outdoors BUT WHEN IT'S NICE OUT. I love going for walks or hikes or events or theme parks outside but when I'm not going to pass out and be carted away by an ambulance.
  • It makes me a grump and an even bigger complainer. I'm miserable in the heat. It makes me sad, angry, annoyed, and depressed. Cold weather makes me the opposite. Cold weather and/or rainy weather makes me cheery, extra friendly, smiley, and always in a good mood unless something truly awful has happened. I'm a better version of myself when it's not 95 degrees outside.
  • Some places have what is called "dry heat". Florida is not one of those places. Oh no we are humid as hell. It is a million times worse than dry heat and basically means you won't have another good hair day for months. Also you can get a feel of what all of us anxiety sufferers go through because it feels hard to breather. But summer is fun right?!
  • Sick. Heat stroke and heat exhaustion are so real. I get nauseated and light headed when I am too hot. I'm sure it's a combination of being dehydrated and the heat itself. But it is no joke. I once had to leave Warped Tour early because I felt like I was going to pass out. For all that aren't privy to the Warped Tour, it's a huge outdoor punk festival that takes place all day and usually in July. I also had another similar episode when Hayley and I were at a show at HOB back in high school. We were in the pit which is just people on top of people and I started to pass out. Thankfully the guys at the bar were cool and gave me water to drink and even let us sit upstairs VIP for the rest of the show. My body is not cut out for hot situations.

WEIGHT LOSS

I have been consistently going to the gym for over a year, maybe more. Except I was still gaining weight. What the actual fuck? I've been on my anxiety meds for a year and a half and when I talked to my doctor about it in May, he thought it might be them making me gain weight. He had me start only taking half a pill. It's been mostly fine. I've certainly gotten more breakthrough anxiety but it's minimal and doesn't last very long. But it's been two months and I haven't lost any weight. Also, I have been taking apple vinegar cider and Garcinia Cambodia pills daily for two weeks. Last Monday when I weighed myself I had lost 5 pounds and then when I weighed myself yesterday I had gained it back which made me feel depressed all day long. I don't know what else I can do short of getting an eating disorder. I don't fucking get it and it's driving me insane both physically and mentally.

It's so incredibly frustrating when...
working out doesn't work.
eating healthy doesn't work.
taking dietary supplements doesn't work.
changing meds doesn't work.

Like what the fuck is there other than dying?!

It's such a mind fuck every morning when I'm getting ready for work and I can barely fit into my pants because I've gained 30 lbs. My bra is barely keeping my girls in place because they have just about outgrown it. I absolutely love button down shirts but all the ones I own don't close anymore. I only feel somewhat decent these days when wearing something with a stretchy waist and a t-shirt. I hate not feeling good about myself but it's certainly not for lack of trying. All I can do is re-group and keep going or just drown my sorrows in a bowl of ice cream.

3 Fictional Characters

Remember about a month ago when everyone and their mom were posting photos of three fictional characters that are most like them or they can relate to? Well I wanted to participate because it's a fun thing to think about, except I couldn't think of one fictional character that reminded me of myself. I love SO many, of course, but it was so hard to come up with any that I was like.

After racking my brain the first one I thought of was Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec. I always used to say how April Ludgate was my spirit animal but that's really not true. Leslie is me all the way. We are one in the same. She's passionate about her friendships especially with her lady frans which is why she came up with Galentine's Day. (I've been sending out things to my lady frans before there was even an official name for the day! Can you say twins?) She takes pride in her work and always gives her best. She's a hardcore feminist. She's incredibly strong and independent but is also never afraid to ask for help when she needs it. Oh yeah, and she loves waffles!

Also Jess from New Girl! I mean, there's the obvious thing we have in common: cute glasses. Ha! But besides our stellar taste in eyewear we are similar in our love of crafting. Jess likes to sing sentences instead of just saying them like regular people. (Well, we aren't regular people! I get you girl. I like to sing stupid things too!) I'm not sure if it's ever mentioned but I feel like you can just tell she has anxiety via her extreme awkwardness during certain situations. She's super emotional and a classic over thinker which I can relate to on every level. But for all her "weirdness" or "quirky" nature that not everyone gets (except the people that are closest to her) she's got the kindest heart and she's all about making people smile.

I don't know if anyone has seen the 1990's movie 'Bye Bye Love' other than Erin but you totally should watch it. It's one of my all time favorites because it's good, funny, and just plain real. Emma was exactly like me as a teenager. Throughout the whole movie she doesn't give a shit about her parents because she is still dealing with their divorce years after the fact. She looks for love in all the wrong places and focuses her attention on boys, well one boy in particular. This movie, and her character was my life in the 90s. From the McDonald's Friday drop offs to not being able to hang out with friends on your dad's weekend. I totally got her because it was my actual life. I understood her pain of having a broken family (even though her broken family was no where near broken as most).

If We Had A Kid...

Some might find this strange given how open I am about not wanting children but I'm still human. I'm not some heartless robot. Dustin and I discuss how we would handle certain parenting situations quite often even though we aren't parents. I think it's normal. It's like when you talk about how your wedding day will be even though you are single. Just because it's not in your immediate future (or in our case future at all) doesn't mean it isn't something that is interesting to talk about.

It's funny how so much of the way you were raised can affect the way you choose to parent. There are a lot of things my mom did that I don't agree with but at the same time there are a lot of things that I surprisingly do agree with.

Obviously this is all very hypothetical because I do not have any children nor do I plan to. And just because I might disagree with an actual parent or parenting method does not mean I'm right and you're wrong. AT ALL. Real life actual parents have experience that I will never have and therefore their opinions and methods outweigh mine every day all day. These are just my opinions as a childfree married woman of 31. That's it.

I am interested to know (well, not THAT interested) how many of my views would change upon having a child. I'm sure I'd budge here and there but there are certain things I stand very firm on.

So this is how I would parent my kid, you know, if I had one:

Birth: I'm not a fan of home births only because I'd be super paranoid if something went wrong I wouldn't be close enough to a doctor. So for me, I'd want to deliver in a hospital. This is all hypothetical BUT the truth is I would have to have a c-seciton anyway given my past health issues so I wouldn't really have a choice. But I'm team hospital all the way.

Circumcision: I never thought much of this growing up. It was something boys just had done and that was that. But as I've become an adult I've come to have the belief it's a cruel and unnecessary step. If I had a boy I would opt not to have it done.

Breastfeeding: I think I'd be more of a pumper if anything. My mom fed me formula and I was just fine.

Vaccinations: I'm 100% pro-vaccinations. Vaccinations have done so much good for children and society as a whole that I really don't understand why some people are so against them.

Social Media: I get wanting to flood everyone's feed with someone you created and love but you have to hold back a little. Not only is it just annoying to other people but not every picture and not every moment you have with your kid should be put on blast. Actually I think only a very small portion should be made public. Now I would totally send more to my close friends and family but I would be really mindful not to over post on social media. Once they have a voice and an opinion about posting I would try to respect that. I've heard of some kids not wanting their parents to put things on FB and I would completely understand if he or she came to me and said that. On a lighter note, I'm really against putting your baby as your profile picture unless you are also in the photo. It's just a stupid pet peeve of mine.

Eating Habits: Dustin and I both had horrible eating habits growing up. My mom didn't cook so I was raised on TV dinners and lunchables. Dustin was never forced to eat anything green and now as an adult still won't eat any kind of vegetable. I don't cook (like mother like daughter). I don't know how and when I have tried I really didn't like it. It stresses me the hell out. If there were ever a reason for me to learn it would be having my own kid. I would want them to eat at home as much as possible. I would want them to have balanced meals and they would be forced to try everything at least once. You can't say you don't like something without first trying it. This isn't to say I would ban a happy meal or whatever but it would be few and far in between. I would not allow my child to have soda or juice at all until middle school age. I would want them to drink 99% water (maybe milk or low-cal gatorade here and there).  I also don't agree with kids drinking coffee. Coffee wouldn't be allowed until high school. Obviously I wouldn't always be able to control what they eat when they go to a friends house or when they go to school but I'd do my best.

Toys: Kids have so many toys. I mean I don't have any but I know they do. I want my kids to have toys but the minute their toy situation got to be too much I would donate the toys and/or request that friends and family not gift them anymore. Instead I would rather them get books or donate money to their college fund. I'm also not someone who is strict about gender specific toys. If I have a girl and she likes Ninja Turtles then I will buy her Ninja Turtles (and they don't need to be girly). If I have a boy who wants to play with a doll then a doll is what he gets. I'm ok with nerf guns or water guns but I would not allow a toy gun (that looks like an actual gun) in my house ever.

Affection: My mom didn't kiss or hug me at all growing up and still to this day it's awkward if we do happen to hug. My dad on the other hand gave me hugs and told me he loved me. I would be affectionate with my kid. I would kiss and hug and cuddle with them any chance I could. Kids should be shown love from day one and I would want them to grow up where that was the norm. The one thing I'm not comfortable with is kissing kids on the lips. I'm not saying it's wrong for other parents to do so, I'm just saying I don't like it for me. I remember there was a whole thing when Victoria Beckham kissed her daughter on the lips and there were people on both sides of it. Personally I don't kiss anyone on the lips except for my husband. That's just me though.

Birthdays: I'm one of the rare people that don't get the big first birthday parties. I totally get as their parent you're excited for the milestone but a one year old has no idea what the hell is going on. I would certainly have a party but I would keep it small to close friends and family - maybe 20 people at most (and that still seems like too many). I feel like the big birthdays are 5, 10, 13, 16, and 18. Those are the ones I would go all out for. At that point they have made friends and they have an input in what they want. The in-between birthdays would still of course be celebrated but on a small scale. Maybe a fun day out somewhere or have a friend spend the night.

Chores: I think it's important for kids to have chores (without having an allowance). There would certain chores that are just part of our kids life. From doing dishes to sweeping the floor to cleaning their room to washing their own laundry. There would be consequences if their chores weren't done whether it be no TV or a friend not coming over. I would give an allowance here and there for extra work they wanted to help out with but that's it. I don't believe in a weekly or set allowance for a kid.

Staying home alone: I started staying home alone when I was 11. It started out only 30 min to an hour and as I got older my mom would leave me alone for longer periods of time. I think 11 yrs/middle school age is an acceptable age to leave your child home alone. But I also think each kid is different. Some kids mature faster than others so I would definitely take that into consideration. I was always very mature and responsible. I didn't cook (because duh I can't). I didn't open the door for anyone. I didn't light candles. I honestly just watched TV or talked to my friends on the phone.

Electronics: This is the one I think about all the time because technology is such a huge part of everyone's life. I see parents give their baby their iPhone to chew on and ultimately throw on the floor. NOPE. iPhones are not toys and therefore would never be given to my crying baby. That's what actual baby toys are for. Why would you give something that costs hundreds of dollars that also has every detail of your life in it to a fucking baby?! No, just NO. I'm also against iPads for kids in restaurants. I rather my child color or read a book if anything. But when I grew up which wasn't in ancient times (shout out to the 90s); we had Game Boys but I don't ever remember seeing kids playing them in a restaurant. They were strictly for home or car rides. Is it so crazy to want to be able to eat a meal without a distraction? Maybe these days it is. And honestly I don't think I would buy an iPad specifically for my kid. They have tablets specifically made for children with learning apps so I would go more towards that than again something that costs hundreds and hundreds of dollars. (Please read this post if you don't understand why I'm frugal as fuck.) There's also the topic of seven year olds with their own phones and some of those iPhones. LIKE WHAT?! Nope. If we gave our kid a phone at all it would be one of those pre-paid cell phones that only makes phone calls. They could have that until they are 16. And even when they are 16 they can certainly get an iPhone but they will need to pay for the phone and their part of the bill each month out of their own money. I will never understand how parents of teenagers just keep buying them new phone after they lose or break a phone. NOPE! They need to learn how to take care of something especially something with so much value. I bought my own first cell phone (shout out to Nokias circa 2002) when I was a Junior in high school and had my own job. I also paid my part of the bill each month. It really taught me a lot of responsibility. I was given very little and just because Dustin and I are better off than our parents were doesn't mean our kid would be handed everything.

Beauty: I didn't get my first pedicure until I was in high school. Nowadays I go to a nail salon and a 5 year old is sitting next to me. I don't agree with that at all. Personally, I would not allow my daughter (or son) to get a professional manicure or pedicure until middle school. I would just paint a 5 year old's nails at home. There's no need for a visit to a salon at that age.

I remember posting a whole blog on the subject of ear piecing years ago. I hate when babies have their ears pierced. I think a kid should be not only old enough to ask for it (since it's their body) but also old enough to take care of it. Also, I remember getting my ears pierced was a super exciting day spent with my step-mom at the time. It's about bonding and the whole experience. I wouldn't want to force ear piercing on a kid who has no interest in it.

When it comes to hair dye I wouldn't allow my kid to do it until high school unless it was just one of those Halloween spray bottles. I think hair dying is something you do when you're older. Not only that but then there's the fact I'm highly allergic to dyes which means there could be a chance my kid could be too.

I would allow shaving around 5th/6th grade. I remember sneaking shaving my legs and I cut them all up. I wouldn't want my kid to sneak. I'd like to be able to walk them through how to do it.

I'm not a big make-up wearer at all and I would want my daughter to feel comfortable without it. I am more pro-skin care rather than makeup. But if my daughter wanted to wear makeup I would let her wear very very little in middle school and more in high school. I'd just want her to know she is beautiful with or without it.

Religion: Religion would not be apart of our kid's life since Dustin and I are agnostic/atheist. If they had questions about certain religions as they got older I would try and answer as best I could. I'm a strong believer in not pushing any religion on your kid. I think that's something that they should figure out on their own. Of course if our kid became religious as they got older or into adulthood we would still accept them for who they are. But I would want them to come to that determination on their own. Science would be a huge part of their upbringing. I would want my kid to know the difference between fact and belief.

Homosexual/Transgender: It would not make a difference to either of us if our kid turned out to be gay. Love is love. End of story. They would still be our kid and absolutely nothing would change. The same goes for transgender, even though this one is harder for me to understand. I would still love and accept my kid no matter what. However I do not agree in transitioning until after they are 18. I would want them to make that decision as an adult.

Curfew: Obviously a curfew depends on a teen's age and again the teens's maturity. But given this is all hypothetical I would say 10pm for 14-15 year olds, 11pm for a 16 year old, and midnight for a 17 year old.

Job: I would want my kid to have a job when they turn 16. I would hope that they would want to get a job on their own in order to make extra money but that's not always the case. The only way I'd be ok with them not working is if they were very active in sports or some other after school activities and couldn't do both. Otherwise I believe a teenager should have a part time job as soon as they are able. First jobs are so important in teaching budgeting skills and appreciation for how much a dollar is really worth. That being said they would have to pay for their own car insurance, gas, etc.

Car: I would absolutely hope Dustin and I would be able to get our kid their first car. But when I say first car I mean used as fuck. I would of course want something safe and reliable but also older. I will never understand parents who give their teenagers brand new or slightly used cars. Nope! I mean my first car was almost as old as I was and I absolutely loved it. Dustin and I would let our kid drive all the time when they had their learner's permit so they could really get used to real life driving and not driver's ed parking lot driving. I might need to take a whole bottle of Xanax to get through it but whatever.

Dating: I never understood why parents (and I'm not one so maybe it's why I don't get it) freak out about their kids dating. It's a natural part of being an adolescent. It's going to happen whether you want it to or not. We all had "boyfriends" or "girlfriends" in middle school. We maybe held hands, kissed at a dance, and if we were really serious go to a group movie date. I think all of that is perfectly acceptable. Now things get trickier in high school. I feel like the stricter you are the more your kid is going to lie and do things behind your back. That's not to say there wouldn't be any rules but they should be reasonable. If our kid was getting serious I would absolutely want to meet this other person and I would include them in family activities.

Sex: I would be very open with my kid (boy or girl) about sex from as early on as possible. I think I would start to introduce the basics around 9 or 10 but as they went into middle school and especially high school,  I would go into more detail. As awkward as it probably is to get the whole "Where do babies come from?" question I would want to be honest in the simplest way. Not only would I want them to know how it all worked but at a certain age I would also want to discuss contraceptives and STDs. I will never forget seeing an STD slide show in my 9th grade Life Management Skills aka Health class. Each slide showed a vagina and/or penis with a gnarly STD. That was eye opening to say the least and doubled as great birth control. I am pro teen birth control and HPV shots for girls. I rather them be on birth control as a precaution than not be and risk getting pregnant. The fact is most teens are going to start having sex before they graduate high school so I rather them be on birth control and have access to condoms than not. That's not to say I would want my kid having all of this sex. I would try to instill the importance of being in love with someone before you give that piece of yourself away but more importantly waiting until you are absolutely ready. I hate when parents say to "wait until marriage" because that is not practical at all. I would also definitely talk to my kid about rape and how you can say no any time you want no matter what. I would definitely make sure if I had a son he knew no meant no and to be respectful no matter the circumstances. I would just want to keep the conversation going as much as possible. I think that's what's most important.

Drugs/Drinking: Dustin and I are extremely anti-drugs and we don't drink. I would instill the dangers of drugs - and yeah I'm talking cigarettes, weed (yeah yeah I can see the eye rolling from here), and of course the hardcore stuff like meth and heroin. Cigarettes are not only a disgusting, expensive habit but they can be deadly. If you can make it through your teens without picking up a cigarette than it's probable you won't pick it up later in life. Now when it comes to weed I think if you are a full on adult who choose to do it in the privacy and comfort of your home go for it. But do I want my teenager doing it? Fuck no. It's proven that you can become addicted to it. Plus you can't retain information (which you know is kind of important when in school). And honestly, being the stoner kid is just trashy as hell. If they want to try it when they move out and are in college then be my guest. I don't have a say at that point. I just can't be ok with a kid doing shit like that. Now most teens will try alcohol pretty early on and a lot of the times their parents let them drink at home. I don't agree with this at all. You're not allowed to drink until you're of age. Again, I know that's super naive but I'm not going to condone under age drinking ever. I'd want to have conversations about drinking and how dangerous it can be especially for girls at a party and when driving. There's just so many factors that freak me out. I would hope that my kid would feel comfortable enough to call us if they had been drinking so we could pick them up. Honestly I would be so proud if that happened.

And that's that. All my parenting thoughts in blog form.

Poor Kid Status

I grew up poor.

I always had a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and food in my stomach but I still grew up poor.

I shouldn't even have to preface this post by saying this but I will anyway. I'm well aware that there are much worse situations out there. Of course there are. I'm not writing this to complain or get sympathy. I wrote it because it's part of who I am. It's what helped shaped me whether I like it or not. I absolutely had everything I needed in terms of basic human needs but try telling that to a kid who sees their peers have more than them. This isn't a "poor pitiful me" sorry. No. This is just how I grew up and how I felt about certain things regarding our financial situation.

The house I lived in for the first 17 years of my life was owned by my grandparents which meant my mom paid a seriously reduced rent. It was incredibly old. I believe it was built in the 1920s and only had one bathroom. It did have three bedrooms, however, the "guest" room that never saw one actual guest, was more of a junk room. It also housed the washer and dryer. Like I said, it was old and honestly scared me as a kid. The walls in the hallway were wood so it made it really dark. The closets were the same. I only used my closet for storage because it freaked me out to actually open the door. The house was under a huge oak tree which I'm certain was part of the reason we had so many damn roaches. I know everyone gets the occasional roach but we had them all of the time. I distinctly remember opening the fridge and one flying out. Yes, I said FLYING. These were crazy fucking roaches. I also remember one making an appearance while I had some girls over for a slumber party. Needless to say, I didn't really like having friends come over very often. I was always self conscious about how little we had and of course all the damn roaches.

Untitled
My house is the one on the top. My BFF growing up lived a couple blocks away. Hers is on the bottom.

My mom's car for my entire childhood was an early 1980's brown Toyota Corolla Wagon, much like this one. I was always so embarrassed by her car. I was embarrassed because it was old and I was embarrassed because it was ugly. I would duck while we would drive through certain parts of town. Even the kids I grew up with in our neighborhood would mention how hideous it was. They never made fun of me directly but by them hating on that stupid car it felt like an attack on me.

Why is it that the toys you didn't get as a kid stand out more than the ones you did? As a little kid I was obsessed with those Fisher Price cars. It would be the first thing I would run to at someone else's house. I never had one of my own. This week at work we got on the subject of American Girl dolls (which was the inspiration for this particular blog topic). Just about every parent I know who has a daughter have gotten them an American Girl doll. Those suckers are so expensive. I knew as a kid they were expensive but only because I was told so. Hell, $20 felt like a million dollars as a kid so what did I know. I was telling the girls I work with how I always wanted one but, you guessed it, never got one. But you know what I did get? The catalog. Oh the 90's catalogs! When the catalog came in the mail every so often I would circle the dolls that I wanted and pretend to play with them with the cheapo off-brand dolls I did own. Speaking of catalogs, remember Delia's? Yep, same thing. I would circle all the clothes I wanted but would never ever get.

I was the kid who got "free lunch" (aka your parents make so little that the school will feed you for free) from kindergarten through my senior year of high school. I was always jealous of the kids who sat in the cafeteria next to me who brought food from home in their cool lunch boxes or better yet had their parents bring them a happy meal. I was constantly stuck with whatever was on the cafeteria's menu. In middle school my dad would give me $20 every 2 weeks to put toward my lunches so I basically lived off of lunchables in those years. I don't remember eating full lunches in high school. I would grab a bag of chips here or a soda there and just eat when I got home. I was far too embarrassed to ever eat the free lunch available at my high school.

I know middle schoolers now just sit in front of a screen all day but back in my day going to the mall was the shit. Any free time my friend's and I had was spent at the mall. I both loved and dreaded those times. The mall we used to frequent had a movie theater across the parking lot from it in the 90s, so a lot of times we would walk to the movies after a long day of boy watching in the food court. This sounds all fine and well until you're the poor girl of the group. All of my friend's parents would just hand them a 10 or even a 20 and send them on their way. I had to look for change in the couch cushions and beg my mom. But she didn't really have anything to give me either. I would rely mostly on birthday money from relatives and friends. You could say I learned how to budget at a young age. It was either that or I had to fake some reason I couldn't go. And I always wanted to go.

I didn't have a TV in my room at my mom's house until high school. I took my TV from my dad's house when he packed up all of my stuff and put it on his porch to move me out and his new family in. I also didn't have a computer in my entire house until high school and even then we didn't even have the internet. The computer was a hand-me-down from my grandparents. It constantly had problems and wasn't even worth having. I would borrow friend's computers or go to the library to type up any school reports. I never owned a gaming system. The only time I got to play Mario Kart or Zelda or Sonic was when I was at someone else's house.

I was never into sports but after my BFF in middle school, Val, told me she was starting karate, I too, wanted to take karate. Well that shit is expensive. Like hundreds if not a couple thousand dollars. Needless to say, my grandparents footed the bill for that one. I took karate for a year thanks to them. They were the reason I got to experience so many things when I was younger because there would've been no way my mom would've been able to afford Hanson tickets, my homecoming dress, Disney, braces, a trip to the West Coast, yearbooks, etc. That was all my grandparents. Without them my childhood would have been much different.

My mom was constantly stressed out about money. If I even mentioned a new this or that she would say "I'm not made out of money you know!" and get all defensive. I would roll my eyes and stomp to my room. I just wanted what everyone else had. She made me feel that the reason she didn't have money was my fault. Hell, maybe it was. I didn't grow up in the lap of luxury by any means. I struggled with a lot of embarrassment about our financial situation. But at the same time, that struggle taught me a lot. Of course it wasn't until later in life that I realized it but I appreciate the things I have so much. I'm still not living some extravagant life but I am able to buy what I need AND want. I know little me would be so excited over the fact that I'm typing this from my very own iMac. She would be thrilled that Dustin and I go to the movies all the time and that I can buy clothes online anytime I want.

If I could go back and change things I wouldn't. Sure, I'd love to be the girl in school with the coolest JNCOs or fanciest CD player but I turned out just fine without those things. It was hard living in the moment but it also shaped me into who I am right now. And I love who I am right now. I don't say that in some conceded way but in a way that I've been through a lot, and although I'm not perfect, I feel I've grown into someone I'm proud to be. Because I was hardly ever just given things, I appreciate them so much more than the kid who got everything growing up. I have had to work hard for the things I have and the places I've been. I don't take any of it for granted. I know how to budget and even though I'm not against splurging here and there, I mostly live very frugally because of how I grew up.

It's tough being the kid who doesn't have what your friends do. It makes you feel like you're some kind of weirdo or just living on the outside of their world. But being different isn't a bad thing. I actually embrace it as an adult. Here's to all the kids out there who don't have it all but will someday.

Divorce Party

Last weekend I went to my very first Divorce Party. I met up with my new friend (from Bumble) and four of her other friends to celebrate. We originally had planned to go to Better Than Sex which is a dessert place; but we didn't have a reservation and there's no room for walk-ins. So we went across the street to The Imperial which is a wine bar. I've actually been to the one in Sanford not realizing that's what it was. Ha! It's a really neat place because during the day they sell a bunch of really interesting furniture. It's completely out of a normal person's price range but it's still cool to look at. But the furniture is used as seating while you enjoy a glass of wine or craft beer. During our visit we had a private room that had furniture resembling something out of Game of Thrones. The lights were dim and other than there not being any music playing, it was just an overall cool vibe. I don't drink so I enjoyed a nice glass of Root Beer. It was strangely easy to talk to a table full of virtual strangers. The old, younger me could have never done that without a panic attack coming on. But I was cool as a cucumber and enjoyed getting to know new people in a new setting. I made her a "Congrats on you divorce" card and another friend of hers made a "Free At Last" sash. I stayed until my new friend and a few other girls went downtown dancing. That's not my thing so I headed home and wished them a fun and safe night.

Some people might find a Divorce Party kind of strange but I thought it was perfect. The thing is, I'd say 98% of couples in unhappy marriages know that shit is not working. Maybe they don't want to admit it to each other or even themselves yet but they know that the end is near. In those cases divorce is a good thing. Yes of course it's sad but it's good to recognize a shitty situation and start to take steps to a better life without one another. It's never too late to begin again. And for those who have been completely blindsided with divorce papers it's better to mourn and move on as fast as possible. It's a much harder situation thinking everything is fine when the other person doesn't, but we are all more resilient than we initially think we are. Time is such a relief too. It's amazing how the hurt can dissipate in a matter of time. It's amazing how our perspective can change with just some passing months or years. So I think a party to celebrate a new beginning is absolutely the coolest.

Dustin and I both went into our marriage with the thought that we hoped like hell it was forever but we weren't going to live in a fairytale if it turned out it wasn't. I still have that sentiment. I still hope like hell it is forever but I'm not going to be naive. I think that's when you have even more of a chance of failing. After over 11 years together we're still happy. I know it sounds silly but this relationship is super easy which I think is why we've always been happy. Sure there have been bumps in the road but there has never been some huge drama or scandal. Our fights are over housework or what we're going to eat for dinner. We respect each other and always have. We trust each other. And most importantly we have so much fun together. I know a lot of couples who get married in their 20s grow apart because you can change so much in that amount of time. We're some of the lucky ones. I still see us as those idiot 19 year olds who were just looking for something and someone to hold onto.

I have never experienced a divorce from that perspective but I sure as hell know what it's like to be the kid watching your parents go through it. I actually went through two divorces. My mom and dad's and then my stepmom and dad. The first time around I was too young to remember anything. But the second time hurt like hell. It absolutely sucks being in the middle. No one ever gives you the full story and even if they did you probably wouldn't take it very well because you're just a kid and it's hard to wrap your head around everything. I cannot remember my parents ever being married but I also never wanted them back together. They fought at pick ups and drop offs, over the phone, and at random events. Why would I want them in the same house so they could just tear each other apart? When I finally found out why my step-mom left my dad I totally got it. It was justified. I realized that at only 13. I couldn't blame her one bit. I was pissed at him that he fucked it up and Cody and I were the ones that had to suffer. But for her, that divorce had to happen and more power to her.

No one deserves to be treated like shit. No one deserves to live in a unhappy and unhealthy environment. I get trying and trying again but if it can't be fixed, don't force it. Divorce shouldn't be gone into lightly but it can certainly be a new beginning for a lot of people. It is nothing to be ashamed about. Sometimes relationships work and sometimes they don't. And sometimes those relationships just happen to be marriages. My marriage does not define me and divorce doesn't define anyone else.

Quiz Time

Since my birthday is quickly approaching I thought it would be kind of fun to make up a ridiculous survey and see who can get the most right answers. Who knows me the best? We shall see! I started out easy but then I tried to make it a tad harder. Ready, set, QUIZ! (Cheaters will be forced to stay in after school detention.)

Also, I just realized I can't see who gives what answer, SO, I will post the answers in a few days and you can compare. I mean, it's to be expected with a free survey site. Oh well!

How well do you know your husband/boyfriend?

I saw this on Facebook via Miranda and wanted to fill it out because it reminds me of the old Myspace surveys which I absolutely loved.

1. He's sitting in front of the TV, what is on?
Hockey or a playing a game on Xbox.

2. You're out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
Trick question...he hates salads. But he loves condiments on other things - ranch, honey mustard, you name it!

3. What's one food he doesn't like?
Pretty much all vegetables. And tuna. He fucking hates tuna.

4. You go out to eat and have a drink; what does he order?
Root Beer. (We don't go out "to drink". We go out to eat and then order a drink with our meal.)

5. Where did he go to high school?
Flagler Palm Coast High School. FPC what up.

6. What is his nickname for you?
Verm

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be?
Funko Pop Figurines. Toys. Comics.

8. What would he eat every day if he could?
Cheeseburgers.

10. What is his favorite cereal?
He rarely eats cereal but he likes the Reeses one.

11. What would he never wear?
Well he hates jeans but he'll wear them like once a year if absolutely necessary. Umm, he'd definitely never wear any other sports apparel other than Pittsburgh teams.

12. What is his favorite sports team?
Penguins. Steelers. Pirates.

13. Who did he vote for?
He didn't because in Florida independents can't vote in the primary election. But he would have voted Bernie. Duh!

Random Wedding Ring Things

Tradition tells us that once married you're supposed to wear your wedding band closest to your heart and then the engagement ring goes on after that. I love most traditions but some I just don't get. Like this one. Dustin and I break tradition on tons of things but we especially did on our wedding day. I mean we got married smack dab in the middle of the work week for one. But when it came to my rings I thought it not only felt weird but looked bad to wear my rings in the traditional order. I like things to happen in order. First your get engaged and then you get married. So it just makes perfect sense to wear my engagement ring first and then my wedding band. I often wonder if anyone ever notices and thinks it's weird. Maybe I'm just making a big deal out of nothing which can happen from time to time. The thing is, I happened to notice a woman who was in front of me at Target a few days ago wearing her rings the way I do. I got kind of excited. I wanted to say something to her. But then I imagined that conversation going something like this:

Me: "Hey! We're in the same weird ring club."
Stranger: Side eye for days

I didn't say anything because let's just be real that would be weird. It's not like it's really that big of a deal. I love that everyone does what they want when it comes to rings (and life). I've seen ladies wear just an engagement ring OR just a wedding band. I totally see myself going to band-only in my older years. This is a very random post but it's been on my mind since I saw that lady and since Dustin and I are celebrating 11 years tomorrow I thought it was somewhat on topic.

See what I mean...
