I wouldn't read this if you haven't seen the movie yet. I will spoil it for you.
I have to admit that I was not really excited for this movie. They really screwed the last one up so I just had no expectations whatsoever. There were a lot of things I didn't like - mostly involving the first half of the movie. Sam looking for a job bored me to tears. Yawn. The last half though was well worth having to endure the first and just might have made up for it.
So on to the positive. Here are the top 5 things I LOVED about Transformers:
1. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as Carly
I was never a fan of Megan Fox. She annoyed me. So I wasn't heartbroken over the fact she got herself kicked out of the last movie. When I heard they had cast a Victoria Secret model to fill the 'love interest' role I was kind of nervous. Then I saw her picture and she almost looked too pretty to be in this kind of movie. I wanted to hate her. I did. It turns out that I really like her! She was very likeable and did a great job for her FIRST acting gig ever. AND she is from England! I was totally wrong in judging her beforehand. She totally held her own.
2. Outer Space
The whole opening with the old space footage from NASA was brilliant. Then they even added the real life Buzz into the mix. There were also pretty cool scenes of the Kennedy Space Center.
The action in the last half of the movie was awesome. Non-stop intense stuff. I mean that whole scene where they were hiding in the building and then sliding down the outside of the building? Ridiculous! Awesome! And it goes without saying but I will say it anyway - every scene with a Transformer in it was amazing. Especially the fight scenes!
4. Alan Tudyk as Dutch
His role was on the small side but I thought it was just fantastic. He was so hilarious. For me, he was the funniest part of the movie. "It's the Cyrillic alphabet! It's like all the buttons you never use on a calculator!"
5. Transformers
Obviously the best part of any of these movies are the transformers themselves, whether they be decepticons or autobots. First of all, it's just fun to watch them transform. The scene where bumblebee is driving Sam, then transforms, Sam falls out of the car, Bumblebee catches him, and bam he's back to being a car, was just bad ass. The autobots have such good intentions and when I had to watch Sam say goodbye to them I got a bit teared up. You just can't help but feel a connection to these robots. AND then of course when they come back to fight those ding dang dong decepticons! Speaking of decepticons, they are mean and just as evil as ever but fun as hell to watch.
I hope they stop making these movies. I just think this third one really went out with such a bang and the trilogy should be left alone. You know? Overall, I thought it was a decent movie but I could have skipped through all the boring stuff in the beginning and gone straight to the action.
