Read a new book: Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
I loved this book so much and flew right through it. Two days and I was done. It's a very real, non-fairytale, story of teenage love that takes place over the course of a school year (in 1986). It definitely goes deeper than that though. It's heartbreaking in many ways that I didn't expect and I quickly realized how different Eleanor and Park's lives really are. A great read!
Favorite Quotes:
"Because being assaulted with maxi pads is a great way to win friends and influence people."
"It was the nicest thing she could imagine. It made her want to have his babies and give him both of her kidneys."
"I want everyone to meet you. You're my favorite person of all time."
"She wanted to lose herself in him. To tie his arms around her like a tourniquet."
Give or help out in some way: I have been wanting to do something nice for a stranger on a more personal level for awhile. So while I was at Starbucks, I bought a gift card. The plan was to hand it out at random right then, BUT I had a rough day at work and was feeling extremely anxious with a side of hot flash, so I decided to go home. I still intend on giving this gift card to a stranger but I decided to wait to do it at a time I would be able to enjoy it more. I'm sure Sam and I will hit up a Starbucks at some point this weekend. And I will be ready to HOPEFULLY make someone smile with free coffee. I'll write about how it went at a later date.
Bake a new recipe: I DID! I made these cookies. Dustin and Erin both called them "little nuggets" which they were. They tasted great and had the perfect amount of chewiness, even days after they were baked.
Go to Yoga: I made it TWICE this month.
Write a handwritten letter: I have written roughly two letters per week. Who will I write when Sam returns? Maybe I will start handwriting letters to everyone; even the people I see on a regular basis.
Save: I've been doing really good with this BUT it's also been really hard cutting back on certain things. I just have to keep telling myself it will pay off. No pun intended.
Travel: The only traveling I did was go back and forth to work. Sad sad sad.
Outside: Still hot. Still inside enjoying A/C.
